Reports to: President, Mining Division

Our Client: Our Client is a worldwide leader in the design, engineering, procurement, and construction of bulk material handling & processing systems, and design and manufacturing of industrial equipment and specialty fasteners.   This position is within a multi-million dollar engineering & construction operating division serving the industrial sector.  

Summary: The Director of Business Development, Mining, is responsible for developing strategic relationships with a global customer base in the Mining sector, while managing the development and maturation of a robust pipeline of qualified new business opportunities supporting the strategic plan for this division.

Compensation: Competitive Salary and Benefits


· Identify and implement global business development projects relating to new products and/or industries within the Mining sector.

· Identify markets and licensing opportunities, and determine the feasibility of product development.

· Perform economic analyses on new or improved product opportunities and/or business models and coordinate with internal departments in identifying and implementing business development projects.

· Identify market opportunities to develop relationships within the global EPC community to become a preferred provider on future projects'.

·  Promote services to develop new markets, increase market share, and obtain a competitive position in material handling relative to the global mining industry.

· Interface with the Sales staff to assure targets are developed and successfully converted to backlog.

· Prepare tender documents for submission.

· Work with peers in Senior Management Team to develop and meet short and long term business plan goals.

· Lead effort in identifying and developing new markets.

· Responsible for special projects and other duties as assigned or as identified.

· Minimum of 5 years of business development experience.

· Minimum of 10 years experience with engineering & construction of complex bulk material handling systems within the Mining/Minerals Processing market sector.

· Ability to sell engineering services at the front end of a project as well as capture business for the complete project including procurement and installation & construction.  

· Minimum of 5 years global market experience.

· Must possess a strong network of senior level industry contacts across customer, supplier, and competitor pools.

· Proven expertise and a successful track record with the ability to attract new business and penetrate markets outside the United States.

· Multi-lingual candidates are preferred.

· High-energy leader with superior business acumen.

· Visionary skills to ascertain market direction and strategic skills to determine methods of market penetration and expanding the service offering.

· Well-developed understanding of marketing, business development, and targeted sales strategies.

· Team builder/player – well-developed interpersonal skills for team building and developing client relationships.

· Excellent negotiation skills and tactics to ensure corporate objectives are achieved.

· Ability to conduct and manage strategic market analysis and prospective M&A targets.

· A strategic thinker with the ability to know when to apply tactics versus strategy.

· A remarkable listener and one who promotes input.

· A proven leader that generates enthusiasm and support in associates.

· Strong presence and presentation skills.

· B.S. Engineering (or related degree)

· MBA or Master’s degree in a technical field (preferred)
