Description:  In this third and final session of a three-part lecture series on mixing and blending fundamentals, Eric Maynard, Senior Engineering Consultant with Jenike & Johanson, covers the basics of post-mix handling to ensure blended material flows reliably, while preventing particle separation or segregation.

Though many blenders can reliably mix materials, often little attention is paid to the method of blend discharge, which can result in de-mixed or segregation of the blended material.

After a brief review of common mixing equipment, Eric discusses the basics of hopper design and materials characterization.  Emphasis on how to achieve reliable powder discharge from blenders, such as tumbling or gravity flow units, is presented.

Information from this lecture can effectively help an engineer, formulator, or plant operator with the fundamentals post-mix handling required to troubleshoot on-going mixing difficulties or help with selecting a new piece of equipment for a powder blending application.

Lecture includes downloadable class notes and a self administered quiz with answer sheet.  The seven-day subscription allows you to watch and review this video class as many times as you need.
