Oelde, Germany -- The processing of sand plays a key role in manufacturing premium quality dry mortar products. A uniform particle composition of the sand is essential for assuring the quality standards of the dry mortar end-product. Overall, the layout of the screening system is a major component in sand processing and is thus a decisive factor in the quality and economic success of a plant.

For years now a large dry mortar producer in Thailand has placed its trust in the expertise and experience of Haver & Boecker. Already this customer has equipped four dry mortar plants with NiagaraŽ vibrating screens. Now this customer has opted for the proven technology of Haver, the German specialist in mineral processing, for its newest production facility located in Kao Wong in eastern Thailand.

The sand processing plant went into operation in mid September 2007 with a total of ten HaverŽ machines. The three production lines process 180 tonnes of sand every hour. First crushed limestone is fed to three identical R-MTR 1400 x 7500g linear vibrating screens. The 0 - 12.5 mm input material is separated at 3.32 mm, 1.6 mm und 0.75 mm.

One important feature for use in sand processing is the dust-tight encapsulation of the machine. HaverŽ model UF 650 x 2315g vibrating feeders, which are positioned above the linear vibrating screens, provide a constant material feed to the vibrating screens. While the overflow from the first deck is routed back to the upstream crusher for further crushing, the throughput from the first and second decks fulfils the requirements for producing the dry mortar end-product.

The material passing through the third deck of all three linear vibrating screens is then distributed to two high-frequency screening machines equipped with direct excited screen cloths for further screening. The Fine-Line screening machines, which are characterised by their high specific screening performance, are double-deckers each having a screening surface area of 22.5 m² (242 ft²).

Both machines have cut-sizes of 0.53 mm and 0.15 mm. A constant uniform material feed over the complete width of the high-frequency screen is accomplished using the specially designed HaverŽ input channels.

Once again this customer is completely satisfied with the results of the NiagaraŽ vibrating screens, as only a clean fraction with a small portion of oversize and undersize particles and a controlled input of additives for the various dry mortar recipes lead to a high quality standard.
