BOLINGBROOK, IL -- Prater-Sterling's construction of their new Test & Toll lab is well underway at the company's Bolingbrook, Ill. headquarters. The new 8640 square foot test and toll facility is anticipated to be much larger than the previous, will be divided into two completely separate units (a Toll Lab as well as a Test Lab) and will showcase many new upgrades that will allow Prater to provide customers with a more modern and well-equipped environment to witness their test.

The new test lab will be equipped with a new stainless steel dust collector, a larger fan with an existing stainless steel cyclone in a separated area specifically designed for conducting customer product/application testing. This area will also be a climate-controlled environment that will allow for testing of a greater variety of temperature sensitive products. Additionally, there will be a separate "bench" lab where samples are analyzed containing a large conference room area with large windows allowing for comfortable viewing of the testing or tolling process with the added convenience of noise dampening.

In addition to new equipment, the test and toll facility incorporates all new control panels with variable speed drives, amperage and rpm gauges courtesy of Prater-Sterling's controls unit (formerly Sterling Systems & Controls) located in Sterling, Ill. Prater will also be replacing their model TSF-20 compactor, with a brand new, much larger model TSF-60.

Prater's toll facility will feature four new dust collector stations which will allow for more flexibility in the packaging options i.e. super sacks, drums and totes. Customers can look forward to many more pieces of equipment added to expand existing on-site tolling capabilities.

So when does Prater expect to complete the lab project? The staff is optimistic that the completion of the new lab will be on target around the end of March. Shortly thereafter Prater is planning a Grand Opening/Open House that will coincide with the International Powder & Bulk Solids Conference/Exhibition May 9-11, 2006.

Incorporate the Grand Opening/Open House into your Powder Show itinerary. For more information about Prater-Sterling or to RSVP call (630) 759-9595, email info@prater-sterling.com.
