Kristianstad, Sweden -- To meet the ever increasing demands of today's major Food Manufacturing Industries for the immediate supply of cost effective, high quality food flavorings and ingredients, Bush Boake Allen has invested in excess of $3.3 million on major improvements in their Scandinavian production facility at Kristianstad Sweden.
The new facility was designed in partnership with MATCON Group Ltd., a specialist organization in IBC (Intermediate Bulk Container) solids handling technology. They were chosen, after extensive investigation of the main food process equipment providers, as the company that could supply the necessary equipment and system solution that met the project objectives and design criteria, as follows:
- Major increase in production capacity
- Greatly reduced lead times
- Highest possible levels of batch Integrity
- Automated dispensing and formulation
- Ultimate hygiene standards to improve the working environment
- Standardized packing for interplant and external handling
The new system now provides a fully operational IBC containerized solids handling process system that offers automated control for the dispensing of ingredients from MATCON's patented ‘cone valve' IBC's to pre-determined BBA recipes.
The technology ensures powder containment, controlled and guaranteed flow of all materials and no segregation of pre-blended mixes during container discharge.
The IBC containerized solids handling process system provides automated dispensing and filling, with the benefits of contained and controlled flow of materials without bridging, ratholing or segregation. The system gives the flexibility of batch production with fast changes of recipe formulation, to meet existing client and future demands.
Batch integrity is assured as the formulated recipe is contained within the IBC allowing necessary quality controls to be carried out and easy interplant handling to other downline process equipment. Controlled discharge then takes place into bags or alternatively into transportable IBC's for the supply of finished products.
The finished product can alternatively be supplied to clients in medium sized IBC's, thus eliminating the need for packaging materials and debagging equipment. This method of distribution is extremely cost effective and can result in major benefits to BBA customers in the handling and dispensing of their food flavorings. Equally the same benefits apply to BBA's major suppliers. Further developments are planned on the external handling and distribution of materials in IBC's to ensure that the cost saving benefits are achieved not only by BBA but all those involved in the BBA food chain!
To complete the batch production and distribution process, empty IBC's are returned to the BBA purpose built cleaning facility for thorough washing and drying to the highest food standards, before being filled again and returned to the process.
