Espoo, Finland -- Outokumpu Technology has signed the contract for the worlds largest flash flotation circuit for the Boddington Gold Mine (BGM) Expansion Project in Western Australia.
The contract includes four flash flotation SkimAir® 1800 units which will form part of a complete flotation circuit from Outokumpu Technology for the BGM project jointly owned by Newmont and AngloGold Ashanti. The Outokumpu Technology package comprises a total of 47 flotation cells including 18 TankCell® 200 units. The combined package of flash flotation and flotation circuits will be delivered by the end of December 2007.
"Our superior technology and experience with advanced minerals processing applications is winning Outokumpu Technology major contracts worldwide, not only flotation, but across the board," comments Peter Bourke, Outokumpu Technologys global Manager - Flotation Process.
In the past 10 years alone, a total of more than 1600 TankCell® units have been installed worldwide. A train of 10 x 200m³ TankCell® units, believed to be the worlds largest single train of flotation cells installed in a greenfield project, has just recently been commissioned in NSW, Australia. In June 2005 Outokumpu Technology also launched TankCell® 300, which at 300m³ is believed to be the largest mechanical cell in the world.
