Innovative Connector Options for Screeners

CINCINNATI, OH -- ROTEX Global, LLC, a pioneer and global leader in the development of screening equipment and technology for the process industries now provides a variety of new connector options for its line of self-contained, production screening machines. The new connector options provide longer life under normal and extreme conditions while significantly reducing downtime and maintenance costs.

Rotex offers four new connector options that enhance productivity over more traditional connection methods. The new connector options are designed to operate efficiently and can double or even triple the lifespan of the connector versus the traditional connection methods. Poly-Clear sleeves, Ultra-PTFE woven and laminate sleeves, Nutating Inlet/Outlets, and Sliding Inlet connectors are now available as connection options for the full line of screeners manufactured by Rotex.

Poly-Clear Connectors are designed to outlast rubber and nylon sleeves 5:1. Poly-Clear sleeves offer outstanding abrasion and tear resistance, are static dissipative, and are available in varied sizes. The easy-to-cut sleeves provide a full visual inspection of material flow and are FDA approved. The Poly-Clear Connector withstands a wide range of temperature conditions: -40° F (-40° C) to 180° F (82° C).

These products are designed to be installed on gyratory and vibratory equipment with enough slack to allow for the machine motion. Recommended usage includes flexible connections on all types of atmospheric, vibratory and gyratory sifters, screeners, feeders, bin discharges, hoppers, packaging equipment, and conveyors.

Ultra-PTFE connectors are available in both laminate and as a woven fabric sleeve. The Ultra-PTFE Sleeve resists radical temperatures from -390° F (-234° C) to 450° F (232° C). The sleeves offer excellent resistance to chemical attack in addition to outstanding abrasion and moisture resistance. Ultra-PTFE woven fabric connectors offer all the benefits of PTFE laminate in a breathable (30 CFM) woven fabric that outlasts traditional nylon fabrics. This material is easy to keep clean, will not shrink when laundered, and is also FDA acceptable.

The Nutating Inlet and Outlet connectors significantly reduce maintenance downtime and improve housekeeping. Designed for long life with a dust-tight connection, the unique, patented design consists of a stainless steel cone suspended between two horizontal flexible diaphragms. The diaphragms are located outside the product stream, resulting in significantly longer life than molded or fabric sleeves. Eventual failure is gradual and detectable, without product spillage; allowing its replacement to be scheduled at a convenient time. The nutating inlet/outlet is also available as a retrofit on existing ROTEX® Screeners, handles up to 50 cfm (1.4 m3/min) of feed, and is suitable for materials with temperatures of up to 200° F (93° C).

The long-life, Sliding Inlet Connector was developed to reduce production downtime. The sleeve is stationary, which helps prevent cracking or splitting, and virtually eliminates the regular replacement of flexible connecting sleeves. The long-life, wear ring and disk will last for years if properly maintained. The connecting sleeve will not tear or fatigue as fast as conventional sleeves that are subjected to continuous flexing, and a horizontal wear groove shows when to replace the UHMW or Teflon® wear ring.

Regardless of the selection you choose, maintaining the proper alignment for your separator and connector will extend the life of your equipment. Allowing for the proper fit will significantly reduce maintenance and downtime.
