Salina, KS -- Vortex Valves Europe has appointed a Sales Engineer, based at the company’s Darlington head office. Laurence Millington will provide technical expertise and support for the Vortex range of dry bulk solids handling valves.
The new role, covering UK and Europe, was created in response to increasing orders and the need for technical back-up to a growing customer base. In the past year European business development was consolidated by senior personnel, Travis Young and Jason Peterson. The pair is on secondment from the Vortex headquarters in Salina, Kansas.
Laurence Millington brings a wealth of valve engineering experience to the job. With his previous company, Wolseley Pipe Centers, he was Contract Manager for British Energy Generation Ltd, advising on power station valves and valve applications.
Now 41, Laurence began working with valves over 20 years ago, at Caterpillar in Stockton. In a maintenance capacity he repaired and installed many types of pump and valve equipment. He is due to undergo a full training programme in Kansas, on every aspect of Vortex® Valves assembly, installation, maintenance and application.
“This is an exciting departure from the world of fluids handling for me,” adds Laurence, “so I am looking forward to learning more about the different uses for bulk solids valves and their unique challenges. It is also a great opportunity to work with other engineers. We operate a ‘try before you buy’ offer and have a very successful Mobile Demonstration Unit that will allow me to take a range of fully powered and working valves along to interested companies.”
