Dallas, TX -- A Model 24 Husky Granulator with a bucket elevator was installed at Defense Ammunition Center. The granulator was chosen as the most effective way in handling brass cartridges gathered from the range, with the possibility of a live round. The cartridge range in size, but can be up to .50 caliber which is as long as 5 inches with the bullet intact. The base design is robust enough for potential live rounds.

“The main use of the unit is for the destruction of fired brass,” said Jimmy Shaw, Defense Ammunition Center.

In addition, the size reduction makes the material more valuable for resell. The granulator was designed with a few special options for eliminating areas of powder accumulation.

The bucket elevator improves the transfer of product, resulting in less spillage, and reduced the size of the overall layout.

Defense Ammunition Center has ordered four systems to date with more currently proposed.

About the Model 24 Husky Granulator

The Model 24 Husky Granulator, with a five-knife rotor and water cooled cutting chamber, is used as a second stage or third-stage reduction unit. Equipped with a three knife rotor, the Model 24 Husky can also be used as a primary granulator in small systems. Hydraulic cylinders open and close the cutting chamber for fast access.
