Matcon : Recipe Batch Formulation

Sewell, NJ -- Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) Systems combine flexibility with speed to market, achieving dramatic cost savings for recipe formulators. These systems eliminate a large part of the manual lifting of sacks and drums, allowing automated formulation on demand from a central management control system.

Accurate automatic dispensing from day-bins into process IBCs can be achieved using a precision Cone Valve Discharge Station. Software innovation has allowed this technology to act as a batching unit by pre-setting target batch weight. Recipes and quantities can be downloaded to the local control unit, allowing each ingredient to be dispensed in the proper quantity when called for.

With the MATCON Formulation System, a remote controlled Discharge Station maneuvers accurately below each day bin, discharging a pre-programmed amount of product into the process IBC. The process IBC is then moved to a designated blending area where it is secured into an IBC tumble blender.

Using a Variable Lifting Height Discharge Station in this process, ingredient weights as low as 50 kg can be dispensed to accuracies as low as + 100 g with typical batch formulation time being in the region of 4-6 minutes. The system has the ability to discharge a wide variety of products accurately in a short period of time.

Direct formulation into IBCs is required in many applications, with many different products, and over a diverse range of industries. Food industry regulations make MATCON’s IBC technology and batch production techniques an extremely attractive option.
