PITMAN, NJ -- The K-Tron Feeder Group will introduce the Bulk Solids Pump™ (BSP), a revolutionary new concept for feeding bulk materials, at the Powder and Bulk Solids Show in Chicago (Booth 1107), May 4-6, 2004. K-Tron will exhibit the BSP for the first time in North America at the Powder Show. The new K-Tron BSP feeder does not use the usual screws/augers, belts or vibratory trays to convey the material. It utilizes positive displacement action to feed free flowing materials with astounding accuracy, offering uniform discharge, consistent volume and gentle handling.

The BSP feeder has vertical rotating discs that create a product lock-up zone conveying the material smoothly from storage hopper to discharge outlet, achieving true linear mass flow. Both gravimetric and volumetric versions of the BSP will be available. Two models will be introduced initially. The BSP-100 will feed from 0.07 to 7 cubic ft/hr. The BSP-125 will feed from 0.32 to 32 cubic ft/hr.

K-Tron will introduce three other new products at the show, including the new T12 Micro Feeder, a new Gain-in-Weight batching system and the K4G, K-Tron’s next generation of gravimetric blenders.

The new T12 Micro Feeder is designed for feed rates as low as 20 grams/hour. With loss-in-weight and volumetric models available for continuous or batch operations, this compact feeder is designed for ease of disassembly and cleaning. The feeder design also allows the feeder bowl to discharge almost completely when emptying, leaving minimal amounts of residual material. The T12 can be configured for either standard industrial or sanitary pharmaceutical applications.

K-Tron will also introduce the new KGIW-- Gain-in-Weight batching system. The KGIW offers a full-featured user-friendly interface for single station control involving up to eight components and 100 recipes. The KGIW station sequentially and independently feeds up to eight materials to a weigh collection hopper from which the completed batch is discharged. All styles of K-Tron volumetric feeders can be incorporated into the system.

K-Tron’s next generation of gravimetric blenders, the K4G, will also be introduced at the Powder Show. The K4G is engineered to offer a compact solution for feeding up to eight materials into an extruder. The K4G blender can incorporate the new K-Tron Bulk Solids Pump (BSP) feeder as well as three models of single or twin screw feeders—vastly extending the range of materials and feed rates to be handled by one blending system. The K4G blender utilizes K-Tron’s next generation of weighing technology-- the SFT III-- and can integrate K-Tron Hurricane vacuum conveyors on the same stand for a complete package.

K-Tron will also exhibit in Booth 1107: the K-Tron Quick Change/ Quick Clean T35/S60 feeder shown with the new Shear Hopper, the newly expanded line of Hurricane vacuum conveyors, a demonstration of Smart Force transducer weighing technology as well as a demonstration of the award winning “Screw Speed Modulation algorithm,” and a Smart Weigh Belt feeder (Model SWB300).
