PITTCON Committee in High Gear for 2006 Conference

Pittsburgh, PA -- Pittcon (The Pittsburgh Conference on Analytical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy) announced that pre-registration is now open for Pittcon 2006 scheduled for March 12-17, Orlando, FL. Conferees registering by February 12, 2006 can save 50% on registration fees.

New programs and exhibition changes have been designed to add more value for the thousands of Conferees and Exhibitors expected to visit the annual conference.

Pittcon 2006 will present over 50 invited technical symposia on current topics including bioterrorism, nanotechnology, environmental science, informatics, forensics, food analysis, drug discovery, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and the life sciences. They will also host a symposium for the “Bridging the Sciences” Coalition; this group represents more than 280,000 university and industry scientists from several research societies seeking federal support for research at the interface between the biomedical sciences and the physical and mathematical sciences.

“We are very excited about the quality of our technical program in 2006,” said Pittcon 2006 President, Kevin McKaveney. “Conferees will have the opportunity to hear from many notable leaders in their field, speaking on the most current issues facing the scientific community today.”

Pittcon organizers expect over 1,000 vendors to demonstrate the latest, cutting-edge instrumentation and laboratory products used across a variety of disciplines. Several changes have been made, including the revamping of technical sessions that will allow Exhibitors and Conferees more time to interact, discuss technical applications and network with their colleagues. Pittcon is also planning two social events in the Exhibition Hall on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon to create a more interactive environment for Conferees and Exhibitors.

“There is no substitute for knowledge gained through personal interaction, whether it is via a hands-on product demonstration or one-on-one discussion with an expert in his or her field. Pittcon’s value has always been to enable this interaction and we feel the changes we have made for 2006 will make the Pittcon experience even more valuable for Conferees and Exhibitors alike,” said McKaveney.

Pittcon 2006 will also include a New Product Forum, over 100 educational short courses, several plenary sessions and workshops, poster sessions, and employment center. Visit Pittcon website for the full description of the technical program and exhibitor list. For more information, contact Ann Puskaric ( puskaric@pittcon.org ).

About Pittcon

Pittcon is the largest educational Conference on Laboratory Science and the premier meeting place for scientists and vendors of instrumentation and laboratory supplies worldwide. Presented annually by the Spectroscopy Society of Pittsburgh and the Society for Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh, the Conference features cutting-edge technical programs; informative short courses, an extensive exposition of laboratory equipment; and more, all designed for those in the laboratory sciences. Proceeds from the Conference provide funds for science education activities from kindergarten through college levels and beyond. Pittcon and its co-sponsors contribute over one million dollars each year to elementary and secondary schools and colleges in the form of science equipment; educational opportunities and scholarships for students. Teachers and professors are recognized with awards/grants to enhance education and promote research. Pittcon also offers support to public science centers, libraries and museums.
