CEMA : Equipment sales up 19% in Dec '09

Naples, FL -- The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association reported that its December 2009 Booked Orders Index was 106. Index in December is up 1 point or 1% from November 2009's Index of 105 (1990=100). The December 2009 Index represents an increase of 19% from the December 2008 Index of 89.

December Booked Orders Indexes were 176 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 81 for Unit Handling Equipment*(1990=100).

The Twelve-Month Index for Booked Orders was 107 in December. Index in December represents an increase of 1% from November 2009's Twelve-Month Index of 106.

The CEMA Billed Sales (shipments) Index was 106 in December. Index in December is up 11 points or 12% from November 2009's Index of 95. The December 2009 Index represents a decrease of 24% from the December 2008 Index of 140.

December Billed Sales Indexes were 210 for Bulk Handling Equipment* and 76 for Unit Handling Equipment*(1990=100).

The Twelve-Month Index for Billed Sales was 113 in December. Index in December represents a decrease of 3% from November 2009's Twelve-Month Index of 116.

* Since Bulk Handling Systems booked and billed sales are reported quarterly and are averaged back to the two preceding months, the booked and billed indexes for non-quarter ending months for Bulk Handling Equipment and Category X, total of all categories, are adjusted quarterly.
