Bulkflow to Exhibit New "Cube Dryer" at ACHEMA

Calgary, Canada -- Bulkflow Technologies has developed an innovative dryer concept - the Bulkflow Cube Drying System (TM) that cleverly integrates product flow, drying air and indirect heat into a compact and highly energy efficient dryer for bulk solids.

Visit their booth at ACHEMA, Bulkflow Technologies, Hall 4.0, Booth 02, ACHEMA 2006, May 15 - 19, Frankfurt, Germany

Plate heat exchanger technology is the most efficient and cost effective solution to most heat transfer problems. Bulkflow Technologies as the world leader in plate heat exchangers for bulk solids has applied their expertise to develop an energy efficient dryer incorporating all of the advantages of plate exchanger technology.

The Bulkflow Cube Drying System works on 3-axis.
- Bulk product moves by gravity in mass flow
- Indirect heating with plates provides thermal energy
- Dry cross-flow air removes moisture

The advantages:
- Low energy consumption (energy efficiency to 90%)
- Utilize waste heat for additional energy recovery
- Gravity flow of product means almost no moving parts
- Compact design due to integration of indirect heating and drying
- Low stack emissions

BulkFlow Technologies Ltd. was formed in 1999, but the company’s patented heat exchanger technology was created almost 20 years ago in 1986. An engineer at the Cominco Fertilizer (now Agrium) plant near Calgary, Alberta, Canada was inspired to come up with a better way to cool granular fertilizer and the Bulkflow Heat Exchanger was born. The technology combines zero emissions, lower energy consumption and lower capital costs with exceptional results.

Conveyor Industry Sees Order Growth in 2005

NAPLES, FL -- The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA) reports that 2005 new orders were up for the conveyor industry for the third consecutive year. CEMA estimates that new orders totaled $5.27 billion for 2005, which represents a 3.1% increase over 2004.

New orders were up 3.1% and shipments were down 11.1% in 2005 compared to 2004. Bulk Handling Equipment orders were up 2.3% and shipments were down 3.5%. Unit Handling Equipment orders were up 3.5% while shipments were down 8.1%. CEMA President, James Lamb, announced the results at the Association’s annual meeting in Marco Island, Florida, in March.

CEMA tracks new orders and shipped sales volume in seven classes of unit handling equipment and five classes of bulk handling equipment. The graphs shown below plot monthly order and sales trends from reporting CEMA member companies from January 2004, through December 2005. Trends are totaled and graphed for all product classes in Bulk Handling Equipment, Unit Handling Equipment and Total CEMA members.

The executives representing CEMA member companies who attended the annual meeting were pleased to see an increase in orders in 2005.

Founded in 1933, CEMA is the trade association of leading North American conveyor equipment manufacturers and engineering firms.

Safety Labels and Manuals

CEMA also makes available to both member and nonmember companies, safety labels for all types of conveyor equipment as well as useful technical information and manuals. For example, CEMA has available for purchase the revised Belt Conveyors for Bulk Materials 6th Edition - “The Belt Book”. This book is an authoritative technical manual for bulk belt conveyor design worldwide.

Mr. Janssen wants help with explosive materials:

I am curious as how one is to define an explosive material when it comes to dry powdered goods. Specifically protein powders, maltodextrin and sucralose.

I am currently trying to select a central vac and dust collector system for our production facility. Are there lists or a sets of criteria as to identify explosive powders? (to post reply, click here)
