SE Powder Show Set for Charlotte in 2008

Los Angeles, CA -- Canon Communications’ co-located shows serving the South’s advanced design and manufacturing markets will move to Charlotte, North Carolina in 2008 as part of a plan to provide a major annual event for this vibrant manufacturing region.

The convenient heart-of-market location is expected to deliver exhibitors an entirely new attendee demographic than seen at the Atlanta location while building upon the show’s recognized position as the largest and most comprehensive advanced design and manufacturing event in the region.

The interrelated, synergistic shows feature the latest developments in design software and rapid prototyping, assembly and automation equipment, electronic components, production and processing machinery, plastics processing, packaging, enterprise software, automation and controls, and a full range of support and contract services for every manufacturing sector and industry application.

The six-show event, featuring Design & Manufacturing South, AM Expo (Advanced Manufacturing), ATX South (Automation Technology), SouthPack, Plastec South, and Powder & Bulk Solids Expo South, will take place at the Charlotte Convention Center on March 19-20, 2008. The event is expected to include more than 500 exhibitors, 100,000 sq ft of exhibits and upwards of 15,000 attendees.

In commenting on the announcement, Kevin O’Keefe, vice president of events for Canon Communications, said, “ The South’s advanced manufacturing market is a vibrant growth region that clearly needs a major, comprehensive, annual event to meet the demands of nearly 40,000 manufacturers. In just North Carolina for example, there are 11,000 manufacturing facilities annually producing $160 billion in output requiring the purchase- every year- of $70 billion in materials, and $4.4 billion on capital equipment. The market demand is very compelling and now exhibitors can take advantage of the annual timing, and tap a whole new attendee demographic as a result of the new location”.

O’Keefe further commented; “The South is a large geographic region, and bringing an event of this size to the region’s most concentrated manufacturing centers guarantees a very positive outcome for attendees and exhibitors alike”.

Charlotte, the dynamic hub of the “New South”, has a metropolitan population of 1.6 million, and is within casual driving range of 7,000 production facilities and almost 400,000 manufacturing employees. Charlotte-Douglas Airport, with 635 flights a day, provides non-stop service to 124 cities. The Charlotte Convention Center offers 280,000 sq ft of exhibit space and has extensive meeting and catering facilities along with a host of other amenities. According to the Convention Bureau, there are 4,100 hotel rooms within walking distance of the Center.

Further information is available at www.canontradeshows.com

Editor's Note:   I have been advised by Mike Critser of Canon, that both, the regional SE Powder Show in Charlotte (March) and the semi-annual International Powders Show in Chicago (May), will be held in 2008.

PureFeed Gravimetric DP Ceramic Disc Feeder

Whitewater, WI -- Specifically designed and developed with pharmaceutical companies for pharmaceutical processes, Schenck AccuRate proudly introduces its new PureFeed® DP Disc feeder.

Developed in conjunction with an international group of pharmaceutical manufacturing and process people, the PureFeed® DP is a highly innovative gravimetric feeder that can accurately meter dry pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and even cosmetic powders at feed rates as low as 20 grams/hour. Jet milling, continuous blending, medical-grade plastics compounding, packaging, coating, and ingredient weighing are examples of the applications targeted.

The key to the success of the new PureFeed® DP is an innovative, speed controlled, inert ceramic feed disc (patent pending). Positioned at the base of a cylindrical, electropolished stainless steel material storage chamber, the disc rotates to precisely discharge tiny amounts of material, continuously and pulsation free over the entire 20 gram to 2 Kg feed rate range. Also, since the feed disc separates the material supply from the discharge point, there is no compaction and no chance of flooding.

Low maintenance and ease of disassembly, cleaning and containment were major design priorities for the PureFeed® DP Disc Feeder. All stainless steel contact surfaces are electropolished and the zirconium oxide ceramic feed disc is resistant to wear and unaffected by aggressive cleaning agents, and high temperatures. All connecting pieces are secured using sanitary quick release clamps and the inlet and discharge of the DP feeder can be sealed to insure containment during transportation.

Uniquely designed for the challenges associated with low feed rate pharmaceutical-grade dry material metering applications, the PureFeed® DP Disc Feeder was recently recognized as the most innovative product at Powtech & TechnoPharm 2007 by Process – PharmaTec – Schuttgut.

Mr. Powers wants dry PET powder:

I own an ammunition company and we manufacture frangible ammunition for the military and police.  I recently purchased another company's patent and brought the bullet mold injection manufacturing in-house.

I'm having difficulty finding a company that can dry PET that is in powder from to -40 dewpoint.  They can all do pellets; however, can't do powder.  Does anyone know of a company that can help with this process?  I'm drying to automate this process.

I would appreciate any help.  Feel free to visit our website to find out more about this bullet at www.precisionammo.com

Ms. Bunnell wants to unload food ingredients:

I am currently searching to find company able to unload powder carbon from bulk totes received from overseas and load the carbon into a truck for the material to be shipped to our facility.

The truck would then need to supply positive air displacement to load the material from the truck into our process tank. Please, contact me with any information you my have about this project.

Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
