Gardner Denver Acquires Invincible Airflow Systems
------------------------------------------------------------
QUINCY, Ill. -- Gardner Denver, Inc. (NYSE: GDI), a leading
manufacturer of blowers and compressors for industrial
applications and pumps for petroleum and industrial markets,
reported its acquisition of the assets of Invincible Airflow
Systems. Invincible, located in Baltic, Ohio, manufactures
single and fabricated multi-stage centrifugal blowers for
industrial portable and central vacuums, process applications,
and welding flux recovery and air knife systems. The company
also provides custom blowers for military applications.
Ross Centanni, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer
of Gardner Denver said, "Invincible is a key niche provider
of continuous duty vacuum systems for industrial cleaning
applications and blowers for OEM industrial and wastewater
treatment applications. The acquisition of this highly-profitable
operation extends our product offering for the industrial

Portasilo Leads With Safe Sludge Granule Storage
------------------------------------------------------------
The latest sewage sludge storage contract to be successfully
completed by Portasilo Bulk Handling Systems, using Portasilo's
unique experience in this market sector, is one for providing
a dried sewage silo for Wessex Water, at Weston-Super-Mare.
This Wessex Water silo was supplied to Swiss Combi Technology,
who provided the sludge drying system. The silo is of 50 m³
capacity, and will store approximately 32 tonnes of dried sewage
sludge.
Due to the nature of the product, the silo has been fitted
with several Portasilo safety features. These include
explosion venting, Carbon Monoxide and temperature monitoring
systems, and a Carbon Dioxide silo inerting package to protect
the installation if heating is detected.
These systems have been specifically designed for the dried
sewage sludge application. They benefit from considerable
Portasilo research, which has been carried out to define
explosion parameters, combustion critical temperatures and
to prove the effectiveness of the inerting systems.
This research provides the basis for a well founded, scientific
approach to storing dried sewage sludge and ensures that all
the necessary control and protection systems are installed.
The Portasilo dried sewage sludge silo discharges the product
on a first in, first out basis to either of two destinations
- a road tanker loading point or a bagging machine. Tankers
are filled at a rate of 40 m3/hour and the bagging machine
at 20 m3/hour. These controlled feed rates have been achieved
by using the patented Portasilo ROTOFLO discharger, which also
prevents bridging of this granular product.
Portasilo has now supplied over 30 sewage sludge silo systems,
establishing itself as market leader in this sector. With over
45 years of experience in the bulk handling industry, Portasilo
is at the forefront of materials handling and storage technology,
to ensure that optimum bulk materials solutions are provided.

Ross PreMax Improves Dispersion Quality
------------------------------------------------------------
Charles Ross and Son Company now offers a new exciting
alternative to conventional High Speed Dispersers and Media
Mills for Pigment Dispersions.
The PreMax incorporates a specially designed close tolerance
rotor/stator to disperse pigments and provides a big improvement
in pumping capability over traditional high speed dispersers
used as pre-mixers for media mills. The high flow rate
combined with the close tolerance of the rotor/stator,
result in a highly efficient transfer of energy to the
product. The end result is a much faster and better
dispersion with less energy input than with alternative
dispersion technologies.
The PreMax is supplied as a stand alone design with a
hydraulic lift, or it may also be supplied as a component
of either the Ross VersaMix or Dual Shaft Mixer. These two
mixers are available in either fixed tank or change can
designs, and normally include three wing anchor agitators
to provide additional flow when required for higher viscosity
mixtures. These popular mixers are available in vacuum or
atmospheric designs and with jackets to control product
temperature.

Company Manufactures Caseinates for Technical Applications
------------------------------------------------------------
BURLINGTON, NJ - American Casein Company (AMCO) manufactures
a full line of caseinate protein polymers for use in technical
applications.
Robert E. Ball, Technical Sales Manager of the AMCO Protein
Polymer Group, commented that “The industry has long known
that the casein protein polymer is effective as a functional
ingredient for technical applications because of the
multiplicity of reaction modes that it can perform. Until
recently, however, the preparation of casein protein polymer
solutions proved difficult, leaving many potential users
unable or unwilling to invest in this unique and versatile
polymer.” Ball states that “caseinates eliminate this
difficulty by creating water-soluble casein salts with
differing metal ions attached to the molecule. This promotes
ease of make-down, order of addition flexibility and reduced
usage of alkalies as well as minimal cleanup.” Ammonium,
sodium, calcium and potassium are among the more popular
ions being used in technical applications at American Casein
Company.
“The caseinate protein polymer can react as a hydroxyl source,
an amino source, and a carboxyl source in a variety of
interpenetrating polymer networks. Its amphoteric nature
makes it a preferred co-binder in multiple polymer systems,”
according to Ball.
“The caseinate protein polymer has come of age in the
technical industry for any water-based application, as well
as some solvent-based applications. Industries seeking
materials with ZERO VOC’s which possess this high degree
of crosslinking, density-promoting activity will find the
caseinate protein polymer an excellent addition to their
polymer choices,” according to Ball.
American Casein Company is a privately owned corporation
with more than 40 years’ experience providing protein
polymers to Fortune 500 companies in the technical industry.
The company is based in Burlington, New Jersey.

James wants to know the best type of dense phase conveying:
I want to transport cereal flakes, milk powder, the agents
introduce two kind of dense-phase conveying system. One
is positive-pressure pneumatic conveying system, the other
is negative-pressure(vacuum suction). Which one is better?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of these two
systems? Which system will less break the shape of the
flakes? And how to calculate the friction factor in the
pipes?

Mr. Broeders needs help with new bulk bag technology:
Our company has developed a new system with which bulk
bags can be filled with materials such as sand, gravel,
natural stone and so on. We're planning to introduce
this system on the British market.
Therefore, we want to ask you whether you do have some
information on the most common way in England to fill
these bags. Do the British use a hopper or an excavator??
We would also like to know if the bulk bag is popular
in England and who your main customers are. Maybe you
can give me some other addresses which can be helpful
to us. Other information is also welcome.
Thanks in advance for your help and sorry for the
inconvenience.
Kind regards,
