DMN-Westinghouse : New USL Airlock for Powders

Memphis, TN -- At the Powder Show in Chicago, DMN Incorporated will be introducing the new USL air lock, which has been designed for many applications in the metering and pneumatic conveying of products in powder and granular form. Standard features for the USL valve will include square inlet and outlet flanges, high filling efficiency, sheared angle inlet and minimum air leakage.

Booth No. 1738 in Chicago

The USL valves are ideal for vacuum conveying applications, bulk bag unloading, cyclone applications and general purpose applications. They can be delivered ex stock from Memphis, TN, and are available in three consecutive sizes: 8”, 10” and 12”, covering a capacity range of .19 to .67 CFR at 100 % filling. All three sizes will be on display at the show.

The material of construction of the valves is cast iron. They are equipped with an 8 vane chamfered rotor and are chain driven. The end covers have outboard bearings and shaft sealing is by means of packing gland with the option of air purge. The USL valve is suitable for handling powders up to a temperature of 302 °F, and a maximum pressure differential of 21 PSI.

DMN-Westinghouse have been designing and manufacturing rotary valves, diverter valves and other related components for the bulk solids handling industry for more than 30 years. Offering tailor made solutions for chemical, food, plastics and pharmaceutical industries, DMN-Westinghouse products are distributed world-wide.

Besides an extensive range of standard components, USDA approved sanitary versions and ATEX-approved explosion-proof models are supplied. An extensive network of subsidiaries, distributors and representatives ensures a high level of service and support all over the world.

Overhung Decanter for Clean in Place Applications

Cincinnati, OH -- TEMA Systems, Inc. products are used in the Chemical, Dairy, Food, Coal, and other markets that require solids/liquid separation. Sales and service of all products are handled from our factory in Cincinnati, Ohio.

TEMA is proud to introduce the SBD over-hung design centrifuge to North America. This design utilizes a short bowl decanting section to effectively settle high density solids from their mother liquor. The SBD decanter will produce comparable separation results to a standard double pillow block style unit with less gravities and less maintenance downtime.

This style centrifuge is designed to replace the dual bearing style units where cleaning is most critical such as food and dairy manufacturers that need to meet FDA and USDA cleaning standards.

The SBD is an innovative product in the liquid/solid centrifugation field that will allow TEMA to better serve a wider variety of markets in the United States.

TEMA industrial and chemical centrifuges are manufactured and supplied in accordance with machine designs from Siebtechnik GmbH. Located in Mulheim, Germany, Siebtechnik GmbH has designed and supplied processing equipment for more than 75 years.

Mr. Sousa to know about flexible screw conveyors:

I would like to have further information about flexible screw conveyors, as follows:

1) Details of the connection of the gear shaft with the screw conveyor;
2) Details to convey superfine/clogging products (like iron oxide powder);
3) Type of steel more appropriated to the shaftless auger
    (Could it be SAE 1070? Should it be annealed?);

5) Does the inlet portion need to have a small piece of shaft?
6) What is the rotation range ?
7) Which is the ideal clearance between the auger and the casing tube?
8) If the temperature raises could it be refrigerated with a jacketed tube
    with water flow?
9) Does the temperature affect the conveyor's performance?
10) Which is the ideal distance between the end of the gear shaft and
     the end of the casing tube?
11) What is the best equation to preview the throughput of a flexible
