VIBRA-PACK Reduces Container Shipping Costs of Bulk Materials
------------------------------------------------------------

A patented vibratory bulk material densifier, designed to free
entrapped air and densify bulk materials to be shipped in
lined domestic or overseas containers.

The VIBRA-PACK material densifier is engineered to help reduce
post-production shipping costs for a wide range of powder,
flake or granular materials in plastics, chemicals and
pharmaceuticals. Typical densification applications include
polycarbonates, carbon black, diatomaceous earth, alumina,
BPA and zeolite, to name just a few.

The unit is designed for easy attachment to corner pockets of
transport containers. During loading, vibratory action frees
entrapped air and densifies product to assure maximum container
usage and weight. Dependent on the application, VIBRA-PACK can
increase material densification by 20-30 percent. One customer,
for example, increased container loading of polycarbonate from
29,000 lbs. up to a fixed shipping weight of 45,000 lbs. The
result: bigger container payloads, fewer containers per order,
and dramatically reduced annual freight costs (more than a
million dollars per year).

The compact VIBRA-PACK is a two-mass, sub-resonant, natural
frequency design, requiring low motor horsepower and energy
use. Its low headroom design installs below loading docks
with easy manual or hydraulic attachment to the container.
Options include tire guides for accurate vehicle alignment
and a scissors lift to automatically adjust operating height
to settlement of the truck bed and container during loading.

Eurasalt Belgium Changes Name to "Zoutman Industries"
------------------------------------------------------------

Eurasalt is one of the independent salt producers in Northern
Europe. Eurasalt, now "ZOUTMAN Industries", has a new
refining unit in Belgium Roeselare and two tableting units
in Poland.

ZOUTMAN Industries produces all grades of Sea Salt for use in
water-softening, dish-washer salt, animal feed, human consumption,
bath-salts, technical applications, deicing, etc. In Poland
tablets are produced from very pure PDV - salt.

The new plant in Belgium is just started and will produce 200,000Mt/
Year. The company was bought in 1997 by the SOBRY Brothers, also
share holders of DESOTEC Activated Carbon and WYNS Products.

The name of the Eurasalt Company was Changed into ZOUTMAN
Industries due to the necessity for a clear differentiation
within the European salt market.

Granulator Combines High Efficiency with Easy Maintenance
------------------------------------------------------------

The Pennsylvania Model TKK Granulator is used almost universally
for the sizing of coal for power generation and other
applications. It reduces coal to the required size economically
and efficiently, even when the coal is sticky, frozen, or
contains wet fines.

This crusher provides ready internal access for maintenance
and inspections. Its hinged frame quadrant opens, exposing
the rotor assembly and much of the crushing chamber. This
enables inspection or maintenance to be performed more quickly,
without disturbing the feed or discharge systems. Such
procedures can be further speeded by use of optional, hydraulic
openers.

This model incorporates Pennsylvania's patented, Toothed
Ring-Hammers, with a profile that crushes coal far more
effectively than ordinary hammers while delivering extended
service life.

For adjustment of output size, clearances between the unit's
screen cage and the hammer path can be readily adjusted using
screw mechanisms, with optional, single-point gear jacks on
the larger models.

The Model TKK Granulator is available in twenty-six sizes,
providing capacities to suit most production requirements.
Pennsylvania's experienced crushing specialists will assist
through every step of the selection process. This can include
test crushing of the user's material, and selection and
sizing of the crusher, drive and reducer.

Pennsylvania also offers the unique Posimetric Feeder, a
design that will ensure a uniform flow of material into
the crusher, so that all crushing components will wear
evenly throughout their service life.

Rotary Kiln Hot Alignment Video Explains Phillips’ Concept
------------------------------------------------------------

A demonstration video explaining the concept behind the patented
Phillips Hot Alignment Method is available to Phillips
customers at no charge. The 3-minute video shows clearly how
Phillips can perform multi-pier alignments by finding the
centers of rotation at selected points along the kiln as it
rotates.

There is a distinct difference between the center of rotation
and the physical center of the shell. The video, with three-
dimensional animation, describes how the center of rotation
is determined without shutting the kiln down and without
taking physical measurements of the kiln support components.
The video has been incorporated into the Alignment Analysis
segment of our Maintenance Training Seminars which has helped
clarify the hot alignment concept for participants.

Phillips Kiln Services began operations in 1969 by providing
innovative preventive maintenance and maintenance services to
operators of industrial rotary kilns, dryers and similar
equipment. Custom fabrication, high quality component parts
and specialized gear lubricant are also provided. Phillips
offices are located in the USA, Canada, England and India.

Hot Messages from the Help Forum

People post their requests for help and offer their suggestions
to others in our open forum.

Mr. Lankhof needs a better powder metering system:

I am looking for a solution to a (I believe) powder metering
challenge. That is, what is the best set of equipment and
vendors to set-up in a process evaluation trial to attempt to
achieve the following:

Acrisson-metered particulate at a flow rate of ca. 9kg/min
through a 2" venturi. Pulse this flow at ca. 700 pulses/minute
to create a ca. 30% delta in the mass flow of the particulate
stream.

Suggestions?

Ms. Morin wants to know more about dense phase conveying:

I understand dense phase conveying uses high pressure but what
value would you attach to this? Roughly what's the PSI or
pounds per square inch that this system would be used for?
Really appreciate a response!
