New Rare Earth Magnet Surpasses Current Separation Levels
------------------------------------------------------------

ERIE, PA – Forty percent stronger than standard magnets, Eriez’
new RE5HP Rare Earth tube magnets, powered by Erium 3000,
provide the highest level of separation efficiency of any
tube magnet on the market today. State-of-the-art circuit
geometry and increased holding power improve separation of
fine and weakly magnetic contaminants in processing applications
such as pharmaceutical/chemical powders, liquid lines and
food processing.

The higher strength of the RE5HP holds finer contaminants
even more tightly to its surface to ensure the removal of
fine metal contamination – virtually eliminating wash-off
by product flow. Designed with the same dimensional envelope
as its predecessors, the RE5HP can retrofit into existing
grates and traps to effectively prevent machinery damage
and ensure product purity.

"The new RE5HP tube magnet keeps downtime associated with
metallic contamination to a minimum. And, it offers
increased holding force, higher gauss rating and improved
separation efficiency – at no additional cost," says Dave
Heubel, Product Manager, Separation.

Eriez, recognized as "world authority in advanced technology
for magnetic, vibratory and metal detection applications,"
designs, develops, manufactures and markets advanced
technology equipment for magnetic separation, metal detection,
vibratory, and materials conveying and controlling applications.

Black Clawson to Built Film Line for Bemis
------------------------------------------------------------

Fulton, NY -- Black Clawson Converting Machinery has been
commissioned to manufacture a combination extrusion coating/cast
film line for Bemis Associates’ Seam Tape Division.

The coextrusion line, capable of handling 60” widths, will run
at speeds up to 400fpm and will produce polyurethane heat
sensitive tape commonly used to repel water and reinforce seams
that experience high amounts of repetition. This tape is widely
used in the recreational and industrial outfitting markets.

The combination extrusion coater/casting section is provided
for maximum flexibility allowing the machine line to produce
extrusion coated and cast film products. Two 3½ extruders
provide coextrusion capability for an adhesive/barrier product.
The turret winder on this system features expandable steel
shafts, to allow varying web widths and Black Clawson’s
stationary knife technology, which assures Bemis of no
fold-back at the core.

All components will be controlled by the Integrator™ II
Supervisory Control System. The Integrator allows supervision
of the entire converting line from one position and provides
for information management and dissemination, both on-site
and from remote locations.

Bemis Associates, of Shirley, Massachusetts manufactures a
range of heat seal film adhesives for the clothing, manufacturing
and automotive industries. They also have manufacturing
facilities in Great Britain.

With headquarters in Fulton, NY, USA, Black Clawson
Converting Machinery, LLC, produces a wide range of
converting machinery for plastics, packaging and paper
industries including pressure sensitive tapes and labels,
release coatings, cast films, flexible packaging and
pelletizing. With customers located throughout the world,
Black Clawson Converting Machinery has been installed on
all the major continents.

Make Your Computer Ready for the New Year
------------------------------------------------------------

As we approach the New Year, this is a good time to remember
to update your personal and work computer programs. This is
a personal ritual I do during the holiday "slow down", if it
can be called that.

Here is what to look for:

Operating System: If you are using Windows there are a number
of patches and updates to your operating system. Most important
of those are Y2K related updates. I know that for WIN 98 there
are several patches and updates available from Microsoft. Make
a point to visit their site at http://www.microsoft.com/ and
check for these and other software updates available on their
web site.

Financial Programs: Most financial or check book type programs
have date-related information and should be checked and patched.
The two programs I use, Quickbooks and Quicken both have patches
or revisions to update the programs and make them Y2K compliant.
An interesting note from their site was that Quicken recommended
that the updates be installed BEFORE the year end to prevent
any kind of problems. Other programs like this include Money
by Microsoft. You should check your software vendor's home
page for more information.

Critical Programs: Do you use a data base sales program or
calendar program? Anti-virus software is one such program.
Browsers are constantly being updated with security patches,
etc. Find the programs that you can not do without and make
sure that they have the latest patches for Y2K.

Take a moment when things get a little slow this holiday
season and make sure your computer ready for the new year.
