X-Force Conveyors

Triple/S Dynamics Acquires FEC Conveyor Product Line

November 2002, Dallas, TX -- Triple/S Dynamics has added the X-Force Conveyor and the other product handling lines of equipment previously designed and supplied by Food Engineering Corp (FEC) to its lines of conveying equipment.

Click hereA core group of sales, application, design, and project engineers, formerly associated with FEC, have joined Triple/S in forming a new office in Minneapolis to serve the food processing industry with the best combination of features and benefits found in sanitary conveyor systems today.

Triple/S' acquisition includes the rights and information required to manufacture these products, and to support the installed base of equipment with parts and service. New Horizontal Motion Conveyors can be tailored to the requirements of each application as Slipstick Conveyors, X-Force Conveyors, or a blend of features of each.

In addition to the X-Force, Triple/S will also supply FEC's vibratory, slat, and sanitary belt conveyors.  Other new equipment includes surge units, enrobers and other specialty processing equipment.

Since 1888, Triple/S Dynamics has been providing specialized dry bulk-material separation and conveying equipment to the food, chemical, agricultural, mining, recycling and other material processing industries.

Burn Guard

TIVAR 88 Now Available in Flame Retardant Grade

Fort Wayne, Ind. - Poly Hi Solidur announces the addition of TIVAR 88 w/BurnGuard to its TIVAR 88 product family. The new product maintains all the key properties of TIVAR 88 - extremely low coefficient of friction, high abrasion and corrosion-resistance, long wear-life - with the added benefit of a flame retardant package that doesn't fuel flames.

Click hereAccording to Joe Wolfcale, Business Unit Manager, System TIVAR Engineering, TIVAR 88 w/BurnGuard's MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) approval should allay concerns about polymers burning when used in coal and other bulk material handling applications where the material could be exposed to a hot spot or smoldering coal.

"MSHA has approved the material for use as liners in chutes, hoppers, feeders and slider beds as well as belt wipers and skirtboards," Wolfcale said. MSHA approval means that TIVAR 88 w/BurnGuard meets the broad range of acceptance criteria for underground mining applications relating to flammability. In addition, during independent laboratory testing against the UL vertical burning test for classifying materials, TIVAR 88 w/BurnGuard met the 94V-0 criteria. (TIVAR 88 w/BurnGuard™ has been submitted to Underwriters Laboratories for formal certification.)

TIVAR 88 liners, noted for promoting bulk solids flow of cohesive or non-free flowing materials due to its low surface friction, reduce or eliminate arching, ratholing and erratic material flow challenges in bins, bunkers, hoppers, chutes, railcars, etc. System TIVAR Engineering, recognized worldwide for innovative ideas, successful application solutions and consistent, reliable products, utilizes a systematic approach to providing long-term, cost-effective solutions for bulk material handling challenges.

Poly Hi Solidur is the world's leading manufacturer of polymer lining material for hoppers, chutes, and other process equipment as well as the world's largest processor of semi-finished UHMW-PE, sold under the TIVAR and QuickSilver brand names. Poly Hi Solidur's System TIVAR Engineering has been providing flow solutions to a variety of industries for more than 30 years. Headquartered in Fort Wayne, Ind., Poly Hi Solidur has manufacturing, fabricating and sales facilities worldwide, including the U.S., Europe, Asia, South Africa, Australia, Brazil and Latin America.

People post their requests for help and offer their suggestions to others in our open forum.

Mr. Thompson wants help with air slide conveyors:

I am looking for published articles or literature on air slide conveyor design, that would provide information on expected flow rate variation with change in slope of the conveyor for a variety of materials typically conveyed by this method.

Edge effect information would also be helpful so that when the design width of a conveyor is changed, the associated flow rate can be more accurately predicted.

Mr. Carr needs handling sodium sulphate:

Has anyone handled Sodium Sulphate?  We would like to get Na2SO4 in bulk quantities and need to bag it in presentation of 1,000 and 25 Kg.

I am concern about the ambient conditions. It is a humid and warm place (Tavg = 95°F, & 85% R.H.) where we have our facilities.  Do I need special facility to receive bulk quantities in order to avoid formation of lumps?

Please advise.  Would also like to hear recommendations on equipment.
