On-Line Particle Size Adjustment

Separation Success for ScotAsh - Fly Ash

Leading equipment provider to the powder industry British Rema has successfully supplied and installed a five-meter diameter Unit Air Separator at ScotAsh, a Scottish based Fly Ash producer.

Click hereThe contract involved the supply of a model TD 500 Microsplit Air Separator to handle pulverized fuel ash at its Longannet Power station in Scotland. British Rema has extensive experience in providing classification units for power stations. The model TD 500 is a new machine based upon an original design but with a number of benefits including simple on-line adjustment of particle size and increased classification efficiency.

British Rema Technical Sales Manager John Kemp said, "This is the largest machine of its type which we have ever supplied!  It is also the latest in a long line of our machines which are used in the recycling process. The machine will improve efficiency for ScotAsh, who will be able to change the type of material put through the machine quickly and simply."

The new machine will handle waste ash from the power station and extract product to satisfy the particle size requirements of BS 3892. Pulverized fuel ash is a by product from coal fired power stations and is a lightweight particulate material with good pozzolanic properties. As companies are being encouraged to use recycled products, pulverized fuel ash is becoming used extensively in blended cement and as an additive for concrete for bridge, dam, road and building construction.

For Feeding Powders and Leafy Materials

Small Feeders for Lightweight Materials

ERIE, PA - Eriez' has expanded its HD Series "High Deflection" Vibratory Feeder line to include two smaller drive units. The HD-26 & 36 size units are ideal for moving smaller volumes of powders and leafy products that are typically difficult to feed in an electromagnetic feeder.

Click hereThe HD Series "High Deflection" Vibratory Feeders combines the higher deflection (3/16") and lower frequency (30 cps) advantages of a mechanical feeder with the precise control of an electromagnetic vibratory feeder. Available in five models and 16 sizes, feed rates of up to 80 ft/min are possible for products with bulk densities less than l0 lb/ft3. All HD Feeders ship with a standard variable speed control housed in an M Type (NEMA 12) enclosure.

These High Deflection feeders incorporate Eriez' low energy AC electromagnetic drive with a patented armature design that reduces power consumption by 75% and creates an exceptionally powerful drive for its size. The elastomeric torsion spring provides quick stopping and protects the fiberglass springs from overstress damage. Trays are available in mild steel, stainless steel and in a wide variety of shapes and sizes.

To receive Eriez' HD Feeder brochure, call toll-free in the U.S. and Canada at (800) 345-4946 or (814) 835-6000. For online visitors, download a pdf at Eriez Magnetics Eriezor send email to eriez@eriez.com.

Mr. Franklin needs a saturation number:

I'm looking for a saturation number for ABS plastic to use in sizing a positive pressure pneumatic conveying system.  The equation I'm using is:

Minimum scfm = saturation number x conveying rate
