Mr. Decker wants an automatic hatch cover:

For pneumatic, semi-trailer, top hatches, covers. I've seen the manual covers, ones with 6 or 8 handles latching it, but I am trying to find automatic hatch cover, air operated. So you wouldn't have to climb to top of trailer every time you wanted to open and close the lid/hatch.  (to post reply, click here)

Mr. Tan needs help with drying sugar in a silo:

Major newbie here. I am a University student doing a term paper on energy use in the agricultural sector and read that certain material i.e. sugar need to be dried while in silos to prevent lump formation.

I am curious as to how dry air is introduced into silos. If I am not mistaken, dry air from dehumidifiers is blown in at the bottom and exhausted from the top via dust collectors. Sorry if I got the details wrong.

My question is; doesn't the sugar (tons of it!) block the flow of air. I would imagine that any duct or pipe would become choked with sugar and no air could flow. I am obviously wrong in my reasoning somewhere, so appreciate if someone could help me out.

Also, if someone could point me in the right direction as to how I could gues-timate the air-changes per hour for drying sugar that would be really helpful. I am trying to get a handle on energy requirements for my term paper.

Batching : Color Variations are a

The problem is that many batching machines, especially when it comes to powdered pigments, do not provide reliable coloring results because they cannot produce reliable minute batches of pigment, and even a slight variation is highly undesirable.
