Chronos Richardson Re-launches Automatic Sack Splitters
------------------------------------------------------------
Consistent customer demand for reliable automatic sack splitting
equipment has prompted Chronos Richardson to re-launch its J11
fully automatic sack splitter to the UK processing market.
Despite a five-year absence from the marketplace the J11 is
still believed to be at the forefront of reliable sack emptying
performance. The J11 design minimizes environmental contamination,
helps promote health and safety in the workplace and enables
companies to economically comply with COSHH regulations.
The J11 features an enclosed and interlocked design from sack
in-feed through to waste sack compaction. The dual blade cutting
action opens each sack along three sides with minimal shredding,
thereby ensuring optimum product discharge and minimal product
contamination.
Sealed flanges and the utilization of a dust extraction unit
ensure the J11 operates under slight negative internal pressure,
thereby minimizing environmental contamination, collected
dust is returned directly to the outlet chute of the J11.
Optional explosion detection and suppression systems can
now also be supplied, thereby extending the application
possibilities for the J11.
Emptied sacks are automatically fed into the integral waste
sack compactor. This compresses the sacks into polyethylene
tubing or bags which produces a clean easy to handle package
thereby helping to reduce the volume of waste going to
the Landfill or Disposal Site.
In recent years inquiries for the J11 Sack Splitter have
been a regular feature of our enquiry database", commented
Regional Director Peter Brennan. He continued, This is
despite the projected demise of the 25kg sack as a means
of supplying loose bulk materials and the company not actively
promoting the product". He concluded, Once again the J11
is being well received by process industries across the
UK with many new projects currently being quoted".

Automated Tracking System for Containers and Pallets
------------------------------------------------------------
SAN FRANCISCO, CA Responding to a universal need in packaging
and materials handling, Container And Pallet Services (CAPS),
headquartered in San Francisco, and Savi Technology of
Mountain View, California have announced the teaming of the
two companies to bring advanced technology to distribution
and supply chain management. Through the use of Saviís
comprehensive integrated software system that integrates
various radio frequency identification (RFID) technologyies
and barcode, CAPS, which rents and manages returnable
containers and pallets, will provide customers with a
first-of-its-kind, automated data collection and asset
identification system for use with the CAPS-TRAC system.
CAPS-TRAC is an Internet-based, real time, container tracking
system and productivity tool.
"We¹re excited to be the only company to currently offer this
combination of service and technology," said Spencer Hoopes,
CAPS CEO. "The technology will be effective in every materials
handling application that you can imagine. Because the RFID
technology can be applied to shipping containers or directly to
materials, the system will be very versatile. It can be used
in industries as varied as automotive, produce, and resins."
Each time an the RFID-tagged container passes through an RFID
signal reading station, the container item and its contents are
automatically logged into the CAPS-TRAC system. The unit's
information is transmitted automatically to the system via radio
waves when the RFID passes by a reading station. The transmitted
information is then received by CAPS and productivity reports
are generated, including daily account activity; measurements
of shipping cycle time; dwell time; inventory levels and
availability; the tracking and charting of container expenses,
repairs and usage history; and identification of container
accountability can all be derived from CAPS-TRAC data. CAPS-TRAC
information and reports are available to customers 24-hours
a day, seven days a week. All that is required of customers
who wish to access CAPS-TRAC is a computer with a standard
Web browser and Internet access.
The RFID technology, which is used extensively in was originally
developed formilitary logistics applications, andis gaining
wide acceptance as is now becoming a popular tool in commercial
automated data collection systems. "The partnership between
our two companies will give customers an information-edge. It
provides companies with the ability to enable customers to
turn data into knowledge, creating into a strong competitive
advantage in information systems that is like nothing else in
the industry today," said Darren Hakeman, director of product
marketing at Savi.
Container And Pallet Services provides unique plastic container
rental services throughout North America through an
extensive network of customer service centers, supported by
high-quality information systems that track containers
continuously through the shipping cycle. Only CAPS links
together rental services, management, and real-time tracking
of returnable containers. The company¹s CAPS-TRAC tracking
system allows customers to manage their container fleet and
still focus their attention on their primary business.
Headquartered in San Francisco, CAPS manages and rents returnable
plastic containers, totes and pallets for a wide range of
shipping uses. Current client companies come from a wide range
of industries.

Mr. Trojan wants thermal protection for shipping product:
I am in need of a process to transport 5 gallon containers of
a non-hazardous chemical on a pallet. The chemicals are
currently shipped in our own non-refrigerated trucks, but
require some type of system that keeps the chemicals above
the temperature of 50 degrees F. The travel time is generally
under 24 hours. The number of pallets requiring in system
is five.
Please respond to me at my email address.
