ACHEMA 2000 - Record Number of Exhibitors Expected
------------------------------------------------------------
May 22-27, 2000 - With almost 4,000 exhibitors from all the
continents of the world and a quarter of a million visitors
from more than 100 countries, ACHEMA will set the standard
again in the year 2000 and present future trends in the process
industries. The process industries - in addition to the chemical
industry, the biotechnology industry, the pharmaceutical
industry, the food industry, environmental technology,
materials technology and the energy industry - have been
affected more than any other field by changes caused by
globalization.
This means besides huge competition also an increasing demand
for innovation and optimization. This situation creates great
challenges and provides a wealth of opportunities to be taken
at the ACHEMA 2000.
With a record number of bookings a year before the big event,
ACHEMA 2000 is already heading for a new record in terms of
the number of exhibitors. For the first time ever the magical
figure of 4,000 exhibitors (1997: 3,697) should be reached.
In fact, already 92% of the available exhibition space
(151,000 sq.m.) at the Frankfurt Fairgrounds has been reserved.
Exhibition Groups - ACHEMA topics
- Research and Innovation
- Engineering
- Instrumentation, Control and Automation Techniques
- Laboratory and Analytical Techniques
- Mechanical Processes
- Thermal Processes
- Pumps, Compressors, Valves and Fittings
- Pharmaceutical, Packaging and Storage Techniques

New Level Sensors Designed for Conductive Liquids
------------------------------------------------------------
FREMONT, CA -- Scientific Technologies Inc. (STI) introduces
CP36 Series Non-Contact Capacitance Level Sensors. Housed in
an IP54/NEMA4 rated enclosure, CP36 level sensors can detect
either full or empty, and feature an LED status indicator as
well as transistor output.
These compact level sensors are suitable for applications
where a conductive liquid, such as water, is contained in a
non-conductive tank, such as plastic or glass. Examples include
the plating, semiconductor and food processing industries.
CP36 sensors operate on the principal of capacitance. The
sensor forms one side of a capacitor separated by a
non-conductive barrier, typically a plastic walled tank, while
the conductive liquid inside the tank completes the capacitive
circuit. An adjustable potentiometer allows for calibration of
the sensor to accommodate the thickness of different tank walls,
as well as to adjust for the specific dielectric of the medium.
High level and low level detection models are available.

Capacitance Level Sensors, contact:

GE Plastics, Milltronics Enter Marketing/Sales Agreement
------------------------------------------------------------
PETERBOROUGH, Ont. – GE Operation Services, a unit of General
Electric Company with headquarters in Pittsfield, Mass., and
Milltronics Ltd., headquartered in Peterborough, Ontario,
Canada, jointly announced that they have entered into a
marketing and sales alliance agreement for remote inventory
management systems.
Under the terms of the agreement, GE Operation Services will
use Milltronics’ level measurement technology in delivering
its new supply chain management service. The agreement provides
for Milltronics and GE to work together to provide remote
inventory vendor management information systems to customers
in markets such as chemicals, plastics, water treatment,
environmental, food, aggregates, mining, and cement.
Based on the initial targeted sales of measurement systems
under the agreement, Milltronics estimates that the relationship
with GE may generate up to $18 million in additional annual
revenues, according to Milltronics’ management team.
GE Operation Services uses Internet distribution of remote
inventory data to provide authorized users with real-time
information for logistics, sales, and manufacturing planning,
to help optimize supply chain processes and to reduce costs.
Milltronics’ President, Dave Bignell said, "This exciting
emerging application will deliver significant benefits to both
industrial suppliers and consumers. The GE-Milltronics agreement
builds on Milltronics' position as a leading supplier of level
measurement instrumentation and GE's strength in business
process consulting and web-based e-commerce."
"This agreement will support our ability to create value in
industries which have heavy costs associated with inventory,"
says Steve Pittman, manager of GE Operation Services. "Our
ability to improve inventory turns and create cash flow is a
key solution provided."
Established in 1954, Milltronics designs, manufactures and
markets sophisticated measurement instrumentation for industrial
use. Its three principal product lines include level measurement,
dry solids flow measurement, and process protection devices.
Milltronics sells its products for use in a wide range of
primary and secondary industries, including the mining,
chemical, manufacturing, food processing, cement, dry bulk
storage terminals and water/wastewater management industries.
GE Operation Services is a global solution provider targeted
at improved asset management and variable cost productivity.
The solutions delivered are based on Six Sigma processes, GE
manufacturing best practices and global remote monitoring and
diagnostics systems.
