New Sponsor :
Triple/S Dynamics
Jacksonville Beach, FL -- We are
pleased to announce that Triple/S Dynamics has become a
sponsor of Powder and Bulk Dot Com.

Triple/S Dynamics, Inc. traces
its roots back to 1888, when Henry Sutton teamed up with
Walter and Edwin Steele to pioneer the use of airflow,
vibration, and electric fields for separating dissimilar
materials. They established Sutton, Steele & Steele, one of
the first manufacturing companies incorporated in the
growing city of Dallas.
"Leadership in Conveying and
Processing Systems"
Triple/S Dynamics is recognized
as one of the leading conveyor manufacturers of horizontal
motion conveyor systems, and for their screening and
separation equipment used by processing industries around
the world. Their depth of experience has led to providing
rugged, safe, sanitary and reliable horizontal motion
conveyor systems. Industries served include mining, food
processing, recycling, bulk handling, agriculture, chemical
processing and foundry.
The company also offers one of
the broadest ranges of recycling and waste handling systems
and equipment. Triple/S Dynamics engineers and manufactures
durable, high-performance chopping/granulating and
separation equipment, plus ultra-efficient conveyors. They
can custom engineer a turnkey, integrated system designed to
fit your specific needs.
Triple/S Dynamics’ development
laboratory is an important component in the company’s close
working relationship with its customers. With a wide range
of testing and analysis equipment, this lab enables
applications engineers to test screens, separators,
conveyors, shredders and granulators on products prior to
recommendation. Their lab facility is used to determine
optimal equipment size, estimate yield and production scale
capacities.

New High-Capacity Pin-Paddle
Mixer/Unloader
Waukegan,
IL -- United Conveyor Corporation (UCC), a global leader in
ash handling and custom-engineered material handling
systems, introduces its High-Capacity Pin-Paddle
Mixer/Unloader.
The
introduction of UCC's 400 ton mixer/unloader extends the
range of UCC's proven mixer product line and enhances UCC's
ability to meet customer requirements. The high-capacity
Pin-Paddle mixer/unloader is specifically designed for
stabilization of wet scrubber by-product (cake) with fly
ash.
"The
latest high-capacity Pin-Paddle mixer/unloader was developed
specially to stabilize both wet scrubber by-products and fly
ash in one unit and significantly improves efficiency,"
states Dan Charhut, vice president at UCC. "As plant
equipment, demands and requirements change, UCC works
closely with customers to develop solutions that meet their
unique needs."
The
high-capacity mixer builds on the operating efficiencies of
the UCC mixer/unloader product line, including uniform
conditioning of materials with specifically designed nozzle
arrangements to wet the ash with a precisely regulated
volume and distribution of water resulting in a homogenous
mix and functional dust suppression.
The
new mixer/unloader has been developed with a large inlet
opening to accommodate multiple feeding belt conveyor lines
for greater system flexibility and throughput. The pins and
paddles work in conjunction to move and mix materials
through to the discharge area. The robust design and
stainless steel construction delivers high-capacity
performance and longer life.
The
rigid body and shaft cladding, both constructed of 316L
stainless steel, provide corrosion protection for the mixer
components in direct contact with the scrubber blow down
water. The mixing pins are also constructed of 316L
stainless steel with ultra-high molecular weight
polyethylene covers to reduce material buildup. A domed
cover and multiple flip-up doors allow easy access to
paddles, pins and shafts. The rubber timing belt ensures
efficient, trouble-free power transmission, saves energy,
reduces operating noise and maintains a smooth, constant
output speed.

Stock introduces next generation
in Gravimetric Feeding
Chagrin
Falls, OH -- Stock Equipment Company, a member of the
Schenck Process Group, is pleased to announce the release of
the Multidos® HPG Feeder, the next generation in Stock
Equipment's long line of feeder models. This latest model
incorporates two centuries of feeder experience as shared in
a collaborative design effort with the Schenck Process
Group. It meets or exceeds the requirements of traditional
feeder users, but also incorporates standard features
necessary for feeding PRB coal and alternative fuels.
Lead
times are significantly reduced due to the modular design of
the new feeder. Additional features key to the innovative
and functional design include: a reversible inlet which can
be rotated 180° to unload material into the new discharge
outlet in the bottom of the feeder, a tension roll and
active tracking station to maintain belt alignment, and
rounded internal surfaces to avoid coal build-up which can
become dangerous in PRB applications.
The
Multidos HPG Feeder is fitted with the new Disocont® Tersus
(DT-9) Feeder controller with a graphical, touch-screen
display and the latest microprocessor technology.
With
over 9,000 installations worldwide, Stock's gravimetric feed
systems are the global standard for accurate and reliable
material weighing and feeding. This latest development in
gravimetric feeding technology further solidifies Stock's
leadership in the industry, providing state-of-the-art
solutions for its customers.

Particulate Monitoring for
Baghouse Leak Detection
Lincoln,
NE -- BinMaster Level Controls of Lincoln, NE announces the
BM-30 LGX particulate monitoring system designed for general
process and environmental monitoring. Applications for the
BM3-LGX include continuous emissions monitoring, baghouse
filter leak detection and process particulate flow
monitoring. It detects many types of particulate including
solid particulates such as dusts, powders, granulars and
pellets.
The BM-30 LGX is designed to help
companies meet regulatory requirements by detecting leaks
before emissions are visible, and prevents the escape of
valuable or dangerous powders while providing a cleaner,
safer workplace.
The BM-30 LGX employs a highly
reliable technology based on induction. This particulate
monitoring system consists of a control unit, a particulate
sensor probe and a sensor coaxial cable. The sensor probe is
mounted in an airflow stream such as a pipe, duct or stack.
As particulate flows near and over the sensing element, the
concentration of particulate is measured. When a
predetermined threshold is detected, an alarm is activated.
The BM-30 LGX is CE conformant, CSA certified and complies
with EN 61010 safety requirements for electrical equipment
for measurement, control and laboratory use.
This intrinsically safe device
can be used in hazardous environments and helps ensure air
quality and plant safety. Particulate monitoring is
applicable to most any industry where dust and particulate
matter are problematic including the cement, mining,
foundry, and steel or aluminum processing industries. Power
plants that use coal or any operation that utilizes or
outputs carbon black will also require particulate
monitoring to comply with OSHA and EPA regulations.
Industries such as grain, food manufacturing, chemicals,
pharmaceuticals and wood processing endeavor to prevent
explosions, protect employee safety and air quality, and
ensure valuable equipment is not harmed.
“BinMaster level controls are
installed in many environments where dust and particulate
matter are present,” stated Todd Peterson, vice president of
sales for BinMaster. “The BM-30 LGX is an ideal complement
for the customer who needs to monitor particulate matter as
well as track bin level inventories. Our goal is to provide
customers with the right solutions for their bin
challenges.”

Requirements for Biomass Sampling
Guest article by
Paul Janze
of Sandwell Engineering
Good quality
control relies on proper sampling, which must be
accurate and precise and truly represent the main body
of biomass. Without good sampling, quality control is
based on false information. Bulk materials are difficult
to sample properly on a production basis... (Click
