Bulkflow to show its Heat
Exchanger in Atlanta
CALGARY,
CANADA -- BulkFlow Technologies Ltd. will showcase its
Bulkflow Heat Exchanger for indirect heating and cooling of
free flowing bulk solids at
Powder and Bulk Solids Southeast at Booth #2039 in
Atlanta, GA, April 24-26, 2007.
The
Bulkflow Heat Exchanger heats or cools powders and bulk
solids and combines the two sciences of indirect heat
transfer and mass flow of bulk solids. The powder or bulk
solids move slowly by gravity between vertical heat transfer
surfaces formed by welding plates containing the heat
transfer fluid, typically water in the case of a cooler. A
mass flow discharge device controls the product flow rate.
Equipment is contained in a totally sealed unit to eliminate
any concern for dirt or contamination.
The
combination of technologies makes the Bulkflow equipment
“environmentally friendly.” Unlike many other types of bulk
solid coolers, the Bulkflow system does not require large
volumes of air to operate and instead lets gravity do the
work to greatly reduce power consumption.
Bulkflow is the recognized market leader in its field for
indirect heating and cooling of bulk solids with more than
250 successful applications worldwide. Applications include
chemicals, fertilizers, polymers, detergents, catalysts,
minerals, oilseeds, grains, food products, sugar and
biosolids.
Bulkflow technology combines zero emission, lower energy
consumption and lower capital cost with exceptional results.
Benefits include a gentle, improved product flow to prevent
product attrition, prevention of potential caking in
storage, and improved packaging. Safe and compact, the
system easily integrates with existing equipment.
About
Bulkflow Technologies
Bulkflow was formed in 1999 but their patented heat
exchanger technology was created almost 20 years before in
1986 when an engineer at the Cominco Fertilizer plant near
Calgary, Alberta, Canada invented a better way to cool
granular fertilizer.
With
headquarters in Calgary, Bulkflow Technologies has a network
of strategically located sales representatives throughout
North America. The company also has subsidiary operations in
Germany, Belgium and The Netherlands to serve the European
market and serves the Asian market through strategically
located dealers in numerous countries.

DEM Solutions to launch EDEM 1.2 at POWTECH 2007
Edinburgh,
UK -- DEM Solutions, a leading developer of discrete
element modeling software solutions, is to launch the
latest version of its market leading EDEM software at
POWTECH 2007 in Germany (Nurnberg, 27th – 29th March
2007). DEM Solutions will be demonstrating EDEM 1.2 at
its stand, No.203, Hall 8.
The EDEM software enables
engineers to simulate the movement of particulate solids
within their handling, processing and manufacturing
operations to produce valuable information for
innovation and improvement of equipment and process
design.
First launched in 2005, EDEM
has been deployed across the globe in a broad range of
sectors including pharmaceutical, chemical, mineral and
materials processing as well as mining, oil & gas
production, geo-mechanics and agriculture.
John Favier, CEO of DEM
Solutions, commented, “We are delighted to be showcasing
EDEM 1.2 at POWTECH 2007. Our latest software will
deliver significantly enhanced processing speeds
allowing engineers to generate and analyze ever more
complex particle simulations. This – combined with our
ability to integrate with other CAE solutions – will
further increase our ability to support engineers in
their drive towards greater efficiency and reduced costs
in industrial and manufacturing processes.”
EDEM has the unique ability
to couple with other CAE tools, which gives the software
the power to simulate the complicated interactions
between particles and other materials and forces. These
CAE couplings include fluid dynamics, electrical and
magnetic, chemical kinetics and rigid body dynamics.
About DEM Solutions
DEM Solutions is a leader in
discrete element modeling software. Its EDEM software is
used to simulate particulate handling, processing and
manufacturing operations in pharmaceutical, chemical,
mineral and materials processing as well as oil & gas
production, agricultural and construction and
geo-technical engineering. EDEM provides high-resolution
information on particle kinematics, momentum, heat and
mass transfer in particulate flows.

Mr. Armasu needs help with
feeding a vacuum reactor:
I am trying to feed micron
sized powder onto a small heated surface located at the
bottom of a vacuum reactor.
Right now I have a small
hopper on top of the reactor (the reactor is approximately 4
ft tall) and material drops by gravity onto the surface. An
air actuated ball valve under the hopper is manually
activated but needless to say material is dropping allover
the place and is missing the surface.
Any suggestions would be
highly appreciated. HELP!
