Jacksonville
Beach, FL -- We are pleased to announce that TitanSeal Inc.
has become a sponsor of Powder and Bulk Dot Com.
Since its inception, TitanSeal
has been correcting the environmental issues that surround
industrial process equipment. To many times existing
machinery has allowed chemically-laden powder to leak to the
outside, causing incredible damage. By incorporating
TitanSeal’s custom seals, product leakage is significantly
reduce. Their seals work to decrease pollutants and promote
an eco-friendly plant.
TitanSeal’s unique design has
successfully prevented product loss in powder and bulk
handling equipment such as mixers, blenders, powder
conveyors, rotary air locks, dryers, coolers, pug mills and
crushers.
"Over 20 Years of Experience"
The company's seals are also
superb in reducing mechanical maintenance, housekeeping and
maintaining shaft integrity. Seals incorporate an air purge
and internal rotating assembly that accepts severe radial
and angular shaft run out, up to 1/4". In addition, the
seals work to lessen downtime, prevent bearing and shaft
damage and reduce product loss, all of which result in
increased profit for their customers.
The seals are also installed on
screw conveyors, mixers, blenders, rotary valves, feeders,
clinker grinders, bucket elevators, bagging machines, dust
collectors, shredders, pulverizers, crushers, coolers,
augers, and similar dry powder and bulk processing
equipment, worldwide. TitanSeal also makes custom seals to
suit your specific application.

Powders and Bulk Solids:
Behavior, Characterization, Storage and Flow
In the
first part the fundamentals of bulk solids flow are
outlined: particle-particle interactions, stress, friction,
strength, density, flow properties and methods of
measurement, shear testers and other test procedures,
specific properties of powders and how they are influenced
by moisture, temperature, and flow agents.
The
second part deals with the application of the flow
properties in the design of properly working bulk solid
containers like bins, silos, and hoppers. Other topics
include: the technical design of silo walls, feeders,
discharge aids, inserts, the assessment of stresses in
silos, segregation and how to avoid it, and vibrations or
shocks occurring in silos.
Dr.

Flexco : New 900 Series Belt Cutter
DOWNERS
GROVE, IL -- Flexco has announced the introduction of
its 900 Series Cutter designed to safely and accurately
cut belts up to 1-1/2 inch (38 mm), while significantly
reducing operator effort.
With the patent pending 900
Series Belt Cutter, users can safely and easily cut
thick and/or hard carcass belts up to 1-1/2 inch (38 mm)
thick due to advancements in the blade‚s technology. A
highly precise cut is achieved through the robust blade
design, the gently serrated belt grip surface, and the
single sided clamp force, which allows the belt to fall
free from the cut line.
The 900 Series Belt Cutter
meets Flexco Safe standards as it has been specifically
designed for operator safety. The blade is totally
enclosed during the entire cutting process and is safely
stored within the cutter when not in use. Also, the
unique "T" top blade design helps protect users from
injury.
The 900 cutter slides easily
into position and the upper clamp beam is quickly
engaged to speed the cutting process. The cut line can
be quickly aligned with clear visibility and the torque
required to cut the belt is dropped by over 50% compared
to other cutters. When the cut is complete, use the
quick release clamps to remove the top beam by simply
depressing a lever.
Flexco provides the world‚s
belt conveyors with efficient, safe products, services
and solutions for mechanical splicing, slippage, belt
tracking and cleaning. The company is based in Downers
Grove, Illinois and operates subsidiaries in California,
Michigan, Mexico, England, Germany, Australia and South
Africa. Flexco markets its broad line of products
through a worldwide network of distributors, under the
brand names which include Flexco®, Rockline®, Mineline®,
and Eliminator®.

Mr. Laplante needs help grinding
chocolates lumps:
One of our customers is
looking to reduce or grind chocolate and candy lumps of 0.5"
to 3" of diameter to a particle size of 4mm, but it's really
"sticky" and especially tough to handle during summer time.
Does somebody know what type
of equipment to use. He has tried it with a standard hammer
mill, but there is no way it will work.

Mr. Singhal needs help with
dense phase conveying:
In our plant we use dense
phase conveying system to transport cement from the cement
mill to cement storage silo. According to the information
available, the capacity is 125 t/h and air used is about
6960 cum/h.
Considering air density as
1.2 kg/cum at 20 degree C, the material to air ratio works
out to be 15 which in my opinion is low. As the pipe
diameter is 200 mm, the conveying air velocity works out to
be 62 m/sec which is very high.
I would appreciate very much
if you could please inform me the optimum material to air
ratio and conveying air velocity for transporting cement by
dense phase conveying.
The air requirement might
change depending on the conveying distance. Could you please
inform about it also. I hope you won't mind for the trouble.

Calcium Carbonate Conveyed at High Flowrate
A large U.S. plastics
compounding manufacturer required a bulk-bag unloading
system capable of discharging and conveying calcium
carbonate at flow rates up to 9,000 lbs. per hour. The
material has a bulk density of 30- to 80-lb. per cubic
foot. To meet the company’s challenge, Metso BEST, Inc.
designed and manufactured a system that incorporates
both standard and custom-made components. ...(more)
