The Definer - An Advanced, Ultra-Sanitary Mill
------------------------------------------------------------

Franklin Miller (Livingston, NJ)- The Definer, Model 2000 is
an ultra-sanitary, multipurpose mill that introduces advanced
design features and unique versatility. The unit is suitable
for deagglomeration of foods and drugs, wet and dry chemicals
in laboratory as well as production applications.

The Definer is a fully-enclosed, dust-tight unit; all stainless
steel. A straight flow through product path eliminates the
possibility of hang up[ of accumulation in hoppers and
simplifies inline installations. The machine is easy to
disassemble for cleaning purposes and can be disassembled and
reassembled in a mater of minutes, making it an excellent
choice for laboratory use. The internal design is easily
changeable between the various available configurations.

Several interchangeable mill designs are available. A
de-agglomerating element with teeth and combs features a
positive once-thru-anti-clog action, with minimal temperature
rise and extraordinary processing capacity. This design
is optimal for reducing agglomerates and clusters to basic
grain size.

A fine milling element features a high-shear, high-speed
radial vane rotor and screen design which gently mills and
conditions the solids with degradation. Also available is
a knife blade design, excellent for cutting fibrous materials.

The mill action is controlled via speed and rotor design. The
Model 2000 has a variable speed direct drive for precise,
repeatable results. The drive is rates N4X for wash-down
service.

New "Bulk Reception Unit" for Offloading Trucks
------------------------------------------------------------

Buhler has developed a Bulk Reception Unit. This unit was
developed to receive road tipping vehicles (or front end
loaders)and to convey and elevate the material for delivery
into the process.

This is achieved without ground excavations and expensive civil
engineering. Normally a 750 mm high ramp is all that is required.

The wide belt design allows it to operate with a wide range
of materials, from grain to heavy ores and sludges, without
the risk of bridging and can be used as a buffer store as well
as providing a regulated feed.

The Bulk Reception Unit is constructed in a modular form
such that units can be tailored to suit specific site
requirements. Variations in length and inclination are easily
accommodated.

It is normally delivered to site completely assembled and
tested ready for positioning on pre-prepared, local foundations
and can be up and running within hours.

David needs a solids feeder for sodium hydride:

In our plant, we will use the sodium hydride(NaH)as a reagent
for our process. For sodium hydride is incompatible with the
moisture and flammable, does anyone has experiences for handling
the NaH? How do I choose the solid feeder for sodium hydride?

Mr. Gustafson needs a hand-held bulk density device:

I am under the understanding that a manual hand device exists
that determines the pounds per cubic foot of a dry material.

I have heard of a company in Illinois that makes or sells this
device. I have heard it called "Seedborro", however I believe
that I could be spelling it wrong, which explains why I can
not locate them.

Can you direct me to this company or one that offers the same
type of device.

Thank you,
Kory Gustafson
