Foods : New RDS Warns of
Metal-to-Metal Contact
Chanhassen, MN -- Preventing metal contamination has become
a top priority for many powder processors. Nu-Con’s Rotor
Detection System (RDS) is new technology they can add to
their arsenal. The system is designed to immediately alert
plant operators that a valve’s rotor vanes have come into
contact with the valve body.

If a
valve fails, the RDS sends a signal to the plants SCADA
system and immediately shuts the valve down, preventing
contaminated product, costly shutdowns and product
rejections.
RDS
monitors electrical isolation between the rotor and valve
housing. If a rotor vane touches the valve body, even if
only for a split second, a warning is sent. RDS offers an
unprecedented level of security from metal contamination to
companies that process food and pharmaceutical powders. RDS
is available on all new Nu-Con rotary valves.

Unique Sealing Solution for Rotary Valves
Georgetown,
ME -- MECO engineers have designed an effective solution
for the unique sealing problems posed by airlocks and
rotary valves. The “MECO-PAC” seal is designed to fit
inside the stuffing box, replacing the packing, and is
adjusted with the original packing gland follower.
The MECO-PAC can often be
installed with no equipment modification. Once installed
and adjusted, the MECO-PAC can provide years of
leak-free operation with little or no maintenance. The
MECO-PAC is custom-engineered for service with a wide
variety of products, including dry foods, abrasives,
hazardous and toxic materials.
The MECOPAC is available in
several materials, for service in a wide variety of
products, including food and pharmaceutical products.
While the MECOPAC can be built fully-split, most
installations do not offer sufficient radial clearance
for split parts, and the seal is usually manufactured
unsplit.
