The Open House organized by the
global Buhler Technology Group in December 2001 was a full success:
Specialists from the entire polyester industry met at the Group
headquarters in Uzwil, Switzerland, for a lively exchange of ideas.
All process operations involved in the polyester industry were
discussed: from melting, crystallization, drying, preforming of
blanks, and bottle production to recycling by reclaiming (washing,
sorting and shredding), melting, pelletizing and post-condensation.
Smooth
overall process
It became apparent in the course of
the event that a clearer organization of the interfaces between the
individual process operations would raise overall efficiency and
produce a smoother total process. The concentration of know-how
presented at the event helped suppliers better understand customers’
needs and thereby ensure optimal and consistent quality. The experts
attending the Open House, representing all process stages,
contributed specialist knowledge from various renowned companies
such as Inventa-Fischer, Netstal, Schmalbach-Lubeca, Resilux, Sorema,
PTI and EPFL (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne).
Live demonstration at Buhler
In a number of live demonstrations,
Buhler presented its process expertise in the fields of solid-state
polycondensation (SSP) and economic PET recycling – an innovation
from the Buhler Group. The guests were also offered insight into the
extruder and analytical laboratories. An impressive example of an
optimal plant layout was presented in the thermal processes lab. It
clearly proved that Buhler, the leading technology partner, invests
heavily in the future in order to help shape coming trends together
with its partners.

Easy access and quick cleanup are
some of the features of Comet's E-Series corrosion free, stainless
steel single hopper loader. It is designed to provide rapid
transportation of free-flowing, virgin granules and regrind directly
to your injection molding machine. The hinged vacuum head ensures
quick cleanup time and easy maintenance.
The
integral single-phase suction motor creates a flow of air which
carries the plastic granules into the hopper through the material
line for a pre-selected time. The granules are then discharged
directly into the processing machine hopper. This cycle is repeated
until both the machine hopper and hopper loader are full.
Reliable Performance
All units have a microprocessor
control for setting and displaying loading time, loading function,
and mode selection, digitally. Fault diagnosis is provided as a
standard feature of the control. All models are built to the highest
standards from quality stainless steel providing consistent,
reliable performance. Design Features stainless steel construction,
fabric vacuum filter with stainless mesh backing, low noise vacuum
head, mechanical flap and loader head prepared for future
centralized system.

SME Annual Meeting and Exhibit
February 25-27, 2002
Phoenix, Arizona
The 2002 SME Annual Meeting and
Exhibit is the premier forum for the minerals industry and the ideal
way to reach leaders and decision makers.
With
over 5000 attendees annually, the SME exhibit has become one of the
largest annual exhibits in North America. The SME meeting has
established a quality mix of technical programs and timely exhibits
that bring together top industry decision makers each year to
advance mineral operations, policies, skill and procedure. SME
attracts influential and involved professionals who are dedicated to
the minerals industry.
The SME exhibit provides a rare
opportunity to showcase your equipment, technology or service to all
of your prime prospects in one place at one time.
Do You Know...?
Exhibitions are the #1 source for
people who make final purchasing decisions!
Exhibitions are used more in the
selling process than any other marketing tool.
Exhibitions are less expensive
than field sales calls for meeting with prospects!
Why Do Executives Attend SME Annual
Meetings?
Because SME is the defining event
in the minerals industry - it's important for them to attend.
Because SME is one of the best
venues for them to see what's new, in one place.
Because at SME they can see the
full range of minerals industry technology, and discover the
best ways to increase productivity and lower operating costs.
Because of the increasing move to
long-term user-supplier relationships, top management comes to
SME where they can meet and assess suppliers - and make
judgments about reliability, responsiveness, and service.
