ContiTech Acquires Roulunds Tech

Hanover, Germany -- The ContiTech Conveyor Belt Group, Northeim, has bought the conveyor belt operations of the Danish company Roulunds Tech A/S, Odense. In the special conveyor belt sector, Roulunds Tech A/S posted sales of approximately 10 million euros in 2005. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.

As of the 28th April the specialized divisions, Maxoflex and Sicon were integrated into ContiTech’s Conveyor Belt Group PMS Engineered Products, specializing in custom designed conveyor solutions.

"With this acquisition, we are strengthening our Industry and Engineered Products segments," says Hans-Jorgen Duensing, who is in charge of the ContiTech Conveyor Belt Group. "The products of Roulunds Tech are a sensible addition to our assortment. We are now in an even better position to help our customers with all their conveyor belt needs. At the same time, we are expanding our global presence."

The special conveyor belt products include MAXOFLEX® vertical lift belts with sidewalls; the SICON® system, an enclosed conveying system which can negotiate very sharp corners whereby the belt edges are brought together to form an enclosed loop, thus preventing the material being conveyed from polluting the environment; steep-angle belts; and conveyor belts for transporting hot materials, for instance in cement and clinker plants.

ContiTech Conveyor Belt Group is a specialist for conveyor belts and conveyor belt service material with global operations. The business unit of ContiTech AG posted sales exceeding 300 million euros in 2005 with a workforce of approximately 2,500. The company has production facilities in Germany, Chile, China, Greece, India, Mexico and Hungary.

About ContiTech

ContiTech AG, Hanover, has a worldwide workforce of around 23,000 employees. In 2004 it realized sales of close to EUR2.1 billion. ContiTech is a division of Continental AG, one of the world's top automotive component suppliers, with a workforce of more than 81,000 and sales of EUR12.6 billion in 2004.

Malvern's Dr. Aberle to give Keynote Lecture

Malvern, UK -- Susan Aberle, project manager for Malvern Instruments’ on-line particle size analysis group, will be a keynote speaker at the forthcoming conference ‘Control of Particulate Processes VII’.

The conference, which will focus on intelligent sensing and control as the path to manufacturing excellence, takes place from 29 October to 2 November 2006 at Harrision Hot Springs, BC, Canada. Dr Aberle’s presentation will cover the use of on-line particle sizing for process control.

Manufacturing processes for particulates and solids are acknowledged as presenting greater processing challenges than either liquids or gases, and this conference takes place against the backdrop of increased investment in enabling techniques for improving product manufacturing performance.

With developments such as the FDA’s PAT initiative, the trend is for all materials properties ultimately to be characterized on-line or at-line. The conference provides a forum for reviewing state-of-the-art developments in particulate process measurement, control and modeling.

Mr. Crooks is looking for screens with square wires:

Hello, in my screening application I use screens with one square wire and one round wire. I am wondering if any of you have experience with this type of wire screen?

I am looking to have some more manufactured and would like to stay away from the OEM. North American or Overseas Manufacturers are welcome. Time is of the essence. (to post reply, click here)

Thanks in advance,

Mr. Chen needs help with blending/mixing dry mortar:

In building materials (like dry mortar) production, batch processing is normal. Therefore, a single shaft (ploughshare-type) batch mixer or twin shaft (Forberg-type) batch mixer could be used in the application.

Could somebody tell me the difference between the two types of mixers themselves and also the:

1) Advantage and disadvantage
2) Mixing efficiency to achieve homogeneous mixture
3) Charge and discharge
4) Durability
5) Maintenance
6) Cost

in this application?  (to post reply, click here)

Thanks,
