Ross : Mixer Provides In-Line
Powder Injection
Hauppauge,
NY -- Charles Ross & Son Company, the world leader in
rotor/stator mixing technology, offers new in-line powder
injection technology that dramatically improves powder
induction into a liquid stream. Unlike previous mixers
designed for fast powder induction, the new Inline SLIM
requires no pump or eductor, which greatly simplifies
operation and maintenance, and lowers costs.
The
unique rotor/stator generator in the In-line SLIM system
includes “Progressive Spiral Porting,” which produces high
flow, high shear, and a high level of vacuum within the
rotor/stator generator. This enables the system to operate
without a pump and induct powders at unprecedented rates.
This results in shorter mixing cycles, an immediate lump
free dispersion, improved end-product quality, and a safer
working environment by eliminating “dusting” in the plant.
Ross
equipment is the first choice for mixers, blenders, dryers
and dispersion equipment. The company has a world class
reputation for innovative engineering, superb construction
and fast delivery. Ross equipment is manufactured on five
continents.

MG Technologies : Renamed GEA
Group Aktiengesellschaft
Bochum,
Germany -- MG Technologies AG was renamed GEA Group
Aktiengesellschaft effective as of July 12, 2005. At the
same time, the firm's head office has been relocated from
Frankfurt am Main to Bochum.
"The
change of name is a logical consequence of the company's
strategic restructuring process that was launched in 2003
and which we have virtually completed. GEA now stands for
"Global Engineering Alliance". We are a globally active,
successful engineering organization with core competencies
in specialty mechanical engineering and plant engineering",
stressed Jьrg Oleas, GEA Group's chief executive. GEA Group
Aktiengesellschaft is listed in the German MDAX, as was mg
technologies ag.
GEA
Group currently employs around 17,000 people and, with more
than 250 operating subsidiaries, is represented in
approximately 50 countries. It generated sales of roughly
Ђ4.1 billion in 2004. Its most important markets -
accounting for around 45 percent of its sales - are the
food, beverage, dairy, and pharmaceutical industries. GEA
Group is already one of the world's market and technology
leaders in 90 percent of its businesses.
The
renaming of the Group followed the merger of the former GEA
AG with its parent company mg technologies ag. Having sold
most of its Chemicals activities, GEA Group now focuses on
specialty mechanical engineering - especially process
engineering and equipment - and plant engineering. The
largest part of the Group's sales is generated by companies
of the former GEA AG.
GEA
Group, which has been formed from mg technologies ag and GEA
AG, combines the histories and core competencies of two
successful German industrial corporations. mg technologies
ag, which until 2000 operated under the name of
Metallgesellschaft, can look back on a history spanning
almost 125 years.
A
milestone on mg's journey from its beginnings as a trading
company to its final destination as a technology group was
the integration in 1999 of GEA AG, which, as part of the mg
Group, continued the profitable growth it had sustained over
the years.

The brochure includes
technical specifications and typical properties for both
food-grade and non-food grade silica.
Precipitated silica is an
effective "flow agent" for use in food spices, bake and
beverage mixes as well as industrial blends like inks,
resins, detergents, coatings and adhesives. Silica can
also be used to "carry" viscous liquids and prevent
caking on machinery while increasing throughput.

Mr. Boback needs help with
vacuum conveying:
We have a vacuum centrifugal
blower that is shutting down on us.
We see the amps on the blower
gradually ramping down then totally stopping. We have a
spare blower that is working fine in the system. There
is a tie in line where there is only about 4 ft offline that
is noticed by the back up blower.
What could be possibly wrong
with the blower that is stopping it? Also, both use
the same filter receiver so there is no plugging there.

Mr. Ashman wants to cool
fertilizer:
I need some help on checking
if an air-liquid heat exchanger will do the job I require.
Producing fertilizer exiting a rotary dryer at approx 80 deg
C, need to cool it to approx 25 deg C.
Using a rotary cooler, which
currently just draws ambient air from within the plant at
approx 25-30 deg C. I am looking to duct in air from outside
and draw across a heat exchanger with water as the cooling
medium at approx 10 degrees C. (to post reply, click here)
Any help?
