Mastermag Introduces Next Generation of Self-Cleaning Magnets
------------------------------------------------------------
BOCA RATON, FL - - Not long ago, the MASTERMAG HD Series of
self-cleaning suspended magnetic separators was introduced by
GEM to the industry for extreme applications, such as C & D
and crushed concrete, where material burden depths often run
as deep as 8" to 12". The HD Series was the first permanent
magnet on the market capable of being suspended high enough,
at 12" to 16", to "capture" and separate all types of tramp
metals. Before the HD, only electro magnets had this
capability.
MASTERMAG's HD2 Series, the new generation, features three
(3) major improvements that make it by far the most powerful
and ruggedly designed permanent magnet offered today in the
industry. All HD2 Series Magnets now feature the exclusive
Tri-Polar© Magnetic Circuitry. An inherent problem with
permanent magnets, until the introduction of the HD2 Series,
has been the magnetizing of steel frames, rollers, and other
steel equipment within close proximity to the magnet. This
is due to a peripheral magnetic leakage, whereby, the magnetic
field "leaks" beyond its intended area.. With MASTERMAG
HD2's Tri-Polar© Magnetic Circuitry, the entire magnetic
field is directed straight down onto the conveyor; the
material being processed and especially the tramp iron to
be removed. As a result, this makes the competitively
priced HD2 Series 30% more powerful than any equivalent
conventional permanent magnet and also makes it equal or
stronger to electro magnets in many applications.
As a result of this stronger magnetic field, improvements
had to be made to the magnet to withstand the punishment
experienced in these hostile environments on site. The
first of these improvements was the addition of a manganese
impact plate, to prevent denting and punctures, from heavy
tramp iron slamming into the bottom side of the magnet.
The next step was to protect the rubber belt from premature
wear, c cuts and punctures, with an armor-clad belt. These
improvements are just the next step up for a magnet series
that already boasts stainless steel guards, protecting the
magnet and belt on both sides, and run the full length of
the frame. With the magnet totally enclosed and protected
it becomes a piece of equipment that will generate years of
trouble free operation in the harshest conditions.
Other permanent and electro magnets available from MASTERMAG
and GEM include, magnetic head pulleys, suspensions magnets,
eddy current separators and heavy duty drum magnets.

New Flaker Increases Throughput
------------------------------------------------------------
The new Buhler BCFA-series flaking roller mills for making
breakfast cereals consists of four machine types meeting all
the requirements that modern flakers must satisfy in the food
processing industry.
Modularity and functionality allow the machine to be optimally
matched to the customer’s specific needs. Its small footprint
and variable drive configuration enable the flaker to be
installed in any plant. The roller mill’s high efficiency is
achieved not only by a significant throughput increase
compared with the proven DNQB, DMWP and BSWA series; it
also results from an efficient roll cooling system and the
centrifugally cast Buhler rolls, which have been designed to
withstand high roll pressures and to achieve a long service
life. The modular design is based on a platform strategy
featuring combinable attachments and allows short supply
times. The control systems of the various types are based on
a method that is easy to understand, can be quickly learned,
and allows easy operation.
Sanitation and servicing
The new sanitation and servicing concept substantially reduces
downtimes for cleaning and maintenance. The two rolls can be
re-moved toward the operator side. This halves the time
requirement for roll servicing.
Uniform product quality
The consistently high quality of the flakes is attained by a
high-precision roll gap adjustment mechanism which operates
in the range of hundredths of millimeters. The flake quality
is decisively influenced by the accuracy of material feed.
All feeders for the BCFA series operate with a very narrow
distribution range across the roll width.
Quiet and low vibrations
Thanks to a novel design applied for the first time on
flaking roller mills, the vibrations inevitably caused by
rough flaking operation are effectively suppressed. The new
flaking roller mill can therefore be installed without
requiring any special building measures, thanks to its quiet
and low-vibration operation.

Dry Container Offers Aluminum Liner for Pellets
------------------------------------------------------------
As one of the biggest suppliers in aluminium silo's and
blenders, Jansens & Dieperink BV is now manufacturing containers
by a special construction technique and have a new method for
transportation of bulk materials. By building an aluminium
liner in a regular dry box container, this concept is called
the Nickator.
A dry box container with an aluminum inner liner is a high
quality method for transporting granules. In comparison with
a plastic inner liner is the handling cost per turn non-existing
and there are no waist problems or risk possibilities. By
comparing costs for buying, installing and removing a plastic
liner and the interest and deprecation cost for an aluminum
liner, the aluminum liner will be cost beneficial whenever
you will use it more than 15 times a year.
The Nickator has a container payload of 35.000 kg. This
includes that you can fill the container with more product per
turn. Even a regular dry box container with this liner can be
certified for more payload with our liner. Because of the
increasing strength we are adding. So with less container
transhipments per year the same amount of tons can be shipped
(15% increase of payload).
Design features include:
-Standard carbon steel dry box container with aluminum inner liner
-Optimal use of container volume
-aluminum bulkhead allows easy discharge through a single outlet
-Easy gravity loading through hatch tops or mechanical filling with thrower belt
-ISO certification for heavy bulk transport (35 tons of payload)
-Full aluminum interior eliminating contamination
-Integrated washing system with one wash water connection for easy cleaning
-Sight glass for interior inspection

Mr. Poh wants to know how to remove +300um particles, inline:
One of my customer is looking for an equipment to reduce
the size of the particle to less then 300um. The process
contains PTA slurry and average powder size is 130um but
from time to time some large crystal chunks (max 30mm) will
enter the system and cause problem for the down stream
process.
The equipment should be inline type and the pipe size is
6 inch. Flow rate about 204,400kg/hr and the slurry
contains 70% water by weight and 30% powder. Operating
pressure is 1.1kg/cm2 at 100 deg C.
Thanks in advance,

Dr. McDonnell needs help with heat treating powders:
I am looking for equipment that can process low volumes
(30 kg/hour, bulk density ~0.5 g/ml) powder which requires
heat treatment at 60 deg C for 12 hours. Plug flow must be
maintained as the material is thermally unstable beyond
21 hours. As the product is a bulk pharmaceutical, GMP
execution is required.
