| Cement :
Cleveland Cascade Chute Installed at Lafarge
Paducah,
KY -- PEBCO worked closely with Black & Veatch in
Kansas City and Strudes, Inc., of Quebec to develop a
specially designed Mark 1 Cleveland Cascade Chute for
Lafarge North America's Davenport, Iowa facility.
This particular chute is
loading 250 short tons per hour of finished cement into
barges. This chute features lightweight fiberglass cones
with abrasion resistant steel liners, a heavy duty shroud,
a cement adapter with material probes and a special dust
enclosure attached to the bottom. The Cleveland Cascade
Chute requires minimum maintenance and operates free of
product spillage and dust leakage.
Two of the most difficult
products to handle are alumina and finished cement. The
solution to loading these products is the Cleveland
Cascade Chute. This design chute has successfully handled
a diverse range of dry bulk solids from finished cement
and alumina to calcined petroleum coke, calcined lime,
wheat, soda ash, potash, phosphate, lead oxide, etc.
The truncated,
oppositely-inclined cones, supported by straps and covered
by a wind shroud, enable material to be loaded in mass
flow at low velocity. In this way, the bulk particles
remain tightly packed together; thereby minimizing the
release of small dust particles. Operating on the
principle of mass flow at low velocity, dust emission is
minimized without recourse to secondary extraction
systems, while degradation and segregation are
considerably reduced. This patented chute has applications
in ship, barge, truck, railcar, and silo loading as well
as conveyor-to-conveyor transfer.
PEBCO Inc. is widely
recognized as an innovator in the loading of bulk
materials. PEBCO purchased the patent rights from
Cleveland Potash of England to manufacture and sell the
Cleveland Cascade Chute in North and South America. For

| Prevent
Bridging : New Shear Hopper the Solution for Feeder
Agitation
Pitman,
NJ -- The K-Tron Feeder Group introduced the Company's new
Shear Hopper at NPE 2003 in Chicago. A compact alternative
to traditional mechanical feeder agitation, the shear
hopper reliably prevents bridge building of cohesive
materials. This special hopper can be used with all K2
Modular feeders in place of the standard 50 and 80 liter
hopper choices.
The Shear Hopper consists
of a flexible hopper liner fixed to the top and bottom of
a standard hopper, with a ring mounted around the middle
of the flexible hopper liner. A motor moves the ring in
eccentric circles, thus agitating the flexible liner and
preventing material bridging. The hopper motion is gentle
on the bulk material and improves material flow for better
accuracy.
The compact size and ease
of cleaning of the Shear Hopper make it an ideal solution
for use in feeding applications where cohesive materials
require agitation, but short, specialized runs require
frequent change over. It is often used in conjunction with
K-Tron's new Quick Change Feeder for such short customized
runs.

Mobile Training Center Hits the Road
ROCK
HILL, SC -- ISL Cone Valve Technology, a manufacturer of
powder handling equipment, has debuted a new touring
mobile display and training center.
The new mobile training
center is designed to provide customers and manufacturer
sales representatives with new product demonstrations and
training. Completed in early 2003, the trailer hosts a
bevy of ISL Cone-Valve products including rigid bin
systems, multiple cone valve configurations and controller
designs and will begin touring the country this summer. A
factory sales engineer will accompany the mobile center
and assist customers and sales representatives with any
questions or training needs.
"The best way for our
customers to see our new technology is to bring it to
their doorsteps," commented Steve Miles, Sales
Manager of ISL Cone-Valve. "Once they see the
features and benefits of our equipment, the next step is
to provided a detailed testing analysis with their
specific materials."
Developed over the past
twenty years, cone valve technology combines the bin
activator principle with dosing and a fail-safe shut off
valve. The valve is positioned at the bottom of a Rigid
Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) and is actuated to
promote product flow. Features The 14-foot mobile center
houses the complete product range of ISL Cone-Valve in a
self-contained, self-sufficient traveling unit.
The interior of the trailer
features a modern design with presentation materials and
detailed explanations of how cone valve technology works.
The displays are a combination of actual equipment,
cutaways and graphics.
About ISL Cone Valve:
The company, founded by Ivan Semenenko, manufactures a
variety of Cone Valve equipment and accompanying products
such as discharge frames, hopper stations and flow aids.
