Non-Contact Level Measurement

Ultrasonic Sensors Ideal for Sensing Plastic Pellet Levels in Large Silos

LOGAN, UT – Scientific Technologies Inc., Automation Products Group, offers two ultrasonic sensors ideally suited to sensing plastic pellet levels in large silos. Ultrasonic level measurement provides accurate, non-contact level indication on a continuing basis. Ultrasonic sensors have no mechanical moving parts - mechanical devices have moving parts that clog and breakdown.

Click hereUS-50 Ultrasonic Sensors are self-contained and feature a built-in four-digit display that is used for programming, as well as a display of level or volume measurement. They offer an adjustable 4-20 mA analog output and two solid-state form "A" relay switches. A NEMA 4X rating allows this sensor to be mounted in outdoor environments.

The UC/UT Controller/Sensor combination is used when a remote display is necessary. The controller has a four-digit LCD display and can be located up to 2000 ft. away from the sensor. The display can be programmed to read the level from the top, or the volume of the product in the tank. The sensor is powered from the controller, so only one 24v DC or 110/220v AC power supply is needed. Outputs from the UC controller include a 4-20 mA analog output, and four solid-state form "A" relay switches.

Both the US-50 and the UT/UC sensors have 42kHz transducers that provide a measuring range up to 35 ft. in plastic pellet and resin applications.

STI has been selected twice by Forbes and three times by Business Week as one of the "world’s best small companies." STI’s Automation Products Group serves the factory automation, semiconductor, transportation, oil and gas, consumer and food processing industries with a diversified offering of sensing technologies. Products include level, flow, pressure sensing, positioning transducers, vehicle separation, profiling and ultrasonic sensors and controls.
