New Seal Stops Powder Leaks on Screw Conveyors
------------------------------------------------------------

CHERRY HILL, NJ -- Damar Inc. has introduced CinchPac, the
next generation of its successful CinchSeal shaft seal. The
new seal is a replacement for ineffective waste pac seals on
today's CEMA screw conveyors. CinchPac is also the lowest
priced seal in the CinchSeal product line, proven in thousands
of dry bulk solids applications since its introduction in 1997..

Today's manufacturing environments demand seals that stop
powder leaks completely. Existing seal technology expects
and anticipates powder leakage and directs leaks to dropout
holes. The new CinchPac design eliminates powder leaks from
these inefficient fibrous packings in dry solids handling.

The new CinchPac is unusually simple to install in the field
and to disassembled for cleaning or inspection. Instead of
grabbing the rotating shaft with packing materials or mechanical
seals, as is customary, this design uses an elastomeric gland,
applied to the shaft. The gland rotates with the shaft; the
shaft does not rotate against it, transferring the seal interface
from the rotating shaft to a much larger surface.

CinchPac, based on the proven CinchSeal design, can be easily
adapted to accept air, grease or water purges. Its
self-adjusting design eliminates hose clamp adjustments.

Damar president David Pitchko says the design of this economical
powder seal provides inherently self cleaning and self
lubrication, so the seals actually operate dry. Because
CinchPac floats the rotor against a plate within a compact
block, it accommodates slight shaft eccentricity and vibration
without interrupting the powder seal or causing undue wear
on the interface.
