Better : New Coating System Offers Improvements
Marion,
IA -- The Vector Wurster Coating Accelerator System has
been developed to improve the performance of a standard
Wurster column. The Wurster Coating Accelerator system
controls the movement of the product/particles into the
coating spray zone, positioning it in the optimum location
of the atomized spray to improve the coating quality and
uniformity.
A pneumatic particle
diverter that utilizes adjustable air-pressure is used to
control the movement of the product and to position it
above the spray gun nozzle, into an enlarged fully
atomized spray zone area. The particle diverter is a
sleeve device, with an arrangement of strategically
located diverter holes, which surrounds the shaft of the
Wurster coating accelerator spray gun. The accelerator
spray gun has an enlarged orifice allowing for increased
solution spray rates and proper atomization of the
solution.
Vector Corporation is a
pioneer of continuous tablet coating systems. Drawing upon
our years of expertise of the batch tablet coating
process, Vector has applied the scientific batch
processing knowledge to the process of continuous tablet
coating. They offer a variety of continuous tablet coating
systems to meet the specific needs of customers. Different
market requirements for the continuous coating of tablets
have lead to the development of multiple continuous
coating systems.

Emissions : Classifier Makes "Sharp" Cut at Lime
Kiln
Lisle,
IL -- Alstom Power, Inc. received an order from Graymont
Western USA for the supply of a new generation hybrid
turbine classifier which was installed on a Raymond 533RB
Bowl Mill supplying a fuel mixture of pulverized coal and
petroleum coke to a lime kiln at Graymont's Montana plant.
The new Raymond Hybrid
Turbine Classifier incorporates the use of an updated
static classifier around the periphery of the innovative
turbine rotor. The static classifier pre-classifies
pulverized coal exiting the grinding zone of the bowl
mill, eliminating the coarse fraction prior to it
interfering with the final classification process that is
the function of the turbine.
The result with the hybrid
classifier was that the bowl mill delivers pulverized coal
and petroleum coke having a fineness of 95% passing 200
mesh. The unit has achieved the desired fineness and has
also demonstrated that it is capable of delivering
particle size distributions containing only a trace amount
standing on a 100-mesh screen.
The Graymont's bowl mill
equipped with this hybrid classifier design consistently
produces solid fuel possessing particle size distributions
compatible with today's combustion technology, which
strives to achieve improved flame characteristics while
reducing emissions and minimizing unburned carbon.
The Raymond Hybrid Turbine
Classifier is available for all types and sizes of new or
existing Raymond Bowl Mills and the design can also be
extrapolated for use with other manufacturers'
pulverizers. Alstom Power Inc.- Air Preheater
Company (APC) is the leading supplier of engineered
products, services and technologies for heat recovery
systems, size reduction and classification equipment
thermal processing and incineration equipment, gypsum
wallboard manufacturing equipment and custom manufacturing
applications.

Release : Replacement Buckets Handle Sticky Products
Charlotte,
NC -- Who would have ever though such a simple idea would
save operators time and money? North Carolina-based
Gough Econ developed and offers
"textured-surface" replacement buckets to
improve the release of sticky product that normally would
remain in the bucket.
The injection molded
buckets have raised, inside pattern decreases surface
contact and tension, minimizing the coefficient of
friction, allowing easier product release from the bucket.
The texture also increases strength and rigidity of the
bucket, improves impact characteristics and longer life
with abrasive products.
Buckets available for 9”
and 18” “S” Series Swinglink bucket elevators. They
are made in FDA-approved white polypropylene or glass
filled white polypropylene and heat resistant Nylon 66.
Gough specializes in the
design and manufacturing of material handling
systems. Gough’s test center enables customers to
test their product on proposed equipment before
recommendation and after the sale to insure the highest
level of quality and reliability. By working closely with
customer process technicians and operating personnel,
Gough has quietly built a reputation for innovation and
reliability.

Homogenizer Replacement :
X-Series Mixer For Sub-Micron Emulsions
The
new X-Series Generator being offered by Charles Ross and
Son Company produces sub-micron emulsions in less time and
at less cost than conventional high pressure homogenizers.
The X-Series design is
proving to be a superior alternative to costly
homogenizers. Production rates are high, for example when
Ross X-Series generator is included in a machine it can
manufacture at a rate of between 10 and 75 gpm. When
combined with positive displacement pumps the mixers can
be pushed to even higher limits.
The X-Series Rotor-Stator
Generator is a patented design. Since the mixer that
includes this generator does not have fast wearing
impingement plates maintenance is kept to a minimum. The
X-Series mixer depends on high shear rates that are
generated by a close tolerance multi-rowed rotor/stator
turning at high speeds. These machines typically operate
at tip speeds up to 17,000 feet per minute.
Ross manufactures X-Series
Mixers in 10 through 250 hp models in standard industrial
and sanitary designs. All wetted parts are constructed of
type 316 stainless steel and include mechanical seals to
meet the needs of the application for which it will be
used.
Ross equipment is the first
choice for mixers, blenders, dryers and dispersion
equipment. The company has a world class reputation for
innovative engineering, superb construction and fast
delivery. Ross equipment is manufactured on five
continents. In the USA alone, we operate five plants and a
vigorous R & D program.

We are interested in
sensors that would detect a break in a conveying line
carrying flour and loss of product into the surrounding
environment.
The detection system must
meet fire code specifications in the state of California.

Osvy needs help
with a gas-tight screw conveyor:
We are in charge of the
operation of a solvent extraction plant for soybeans.
We have a big belt type extractor and at have at the end a
screw conveyor that allows the extracted material to feed
a chain conveyor.
This screw conveyor receive
the material at the full length from the belt of the
extractor and have two points of discharge: one at the end
of the screw and the other in the middle.
The matter is that twice a
year we must to clean out clogged material between the
flights because the defatted meal stick against the faces
and shaft of the screw.
Material: temperature = 61
deg ºC
Characteristics = granular embedded with hexane, moisture
of 10 %.
Flow : 280 metric tons/hour
Screw: material of construction: mild carbon steel
Type: variable pitch
Diameter: 980 mm
Total length : 7.5 meters
Power: 75 HP Consumption: 50% full charge
RPM : 35
Please, can you give me and advise how to control this
problem because we need to stop the whole plant and to
clean this device with difficulties?
