Award : Size Analyzer System Recognized
Kuala
Lumpur, Malaysia -- The Malvern Insitec Voyager, on-line
particle size analyzer, with Malvern Link automation
software, has been named winner of the Most Innovative
Product category in this year's Asia Pacific Coatings Show
awards. Winners were announced and awards presented at the
show held on 21 & 22 May 2003 in Kuala Lumpur.
Commenting on the decision
of the judging panel, David Vaughan-Lee, editor of Asia
Pacific Coatings Journal, said: "The judges felt that
Malvern Process Systems should win the award because the
design of the patented Insitec system offers significant
improvements in productivity together with savings in raw
materials, labor and energy costs for powder production
processes. This has been rewarded by rapid sales growth in
the Asia Pacific region."
On being presented with the
winner's trophy, Dr George Crawley, Business Development
Manager for Malvern Process Systems, the on-line particle
sizing division of Malvern Instruments, said: "I am
delighted that Malvern's Insitec system has been
recognized with this award. Malvern Process Systems has
not only invested in R&D for its products, importantly
it has also focused on making sure that the teams that
sell and support on-line particle sizing systems fully
understand and can meet the needs of our customers
throughout the world. With manufacturing industry now
focused on process optimization and process
intensification, on-line measurements that bring process
understanding and real-time control are of increasing
value. It is our aim to provide the effective service and
comprehensive product range that the market needs."
The Insitec Voyager is a
mobile system that can be attached to fixed sampling ports
at a variety of points in a production line, or can be
used to sample from several different production lines. It
is a fully integrated unit with all the necessary fittings
to allow the system to function automatically.
Malvern Process Systems
focuses on the development, production and implementation
of intelligent process solutions for particulate
systems. Solutions encompass real time sensors, wet
and dry on-line particle sizing, full automation and
advanced control systems – delivering process knowledge
that goes far beyond simple in-process quality control

Load Cell Mounting Assembly for Extreme Environments
RICE
LAKE, WS -- Rice Lake’s Paramounts system offers
superior weighing accuracy for applications involving
expansion, contraction and vibration in harsh
environments. Uniquely designed mounts and hermetically
sealed stainless steel load cells work together as a
system to provide the ultimate in convenience and control
for light to medium capacity tanks and hoppers, mixers and
blenders, and in-process measurement and control.
The fixed pin mount acts as
the vessel’s primary reference point while enabling
rotation of the top plate. A single side stop mount is
paired with the fixed pin mount to permit mechanical
expansion and contraction in one direction. With the
addition of one or more free sliding mounts, the vessel
then becomes a high-accuracy weighing device. The
combination of these three mount designs offers the free
motion necessary to eliminate unwanted mechanical side
loads. Paramounts are also self-checking in applications
involving temperature fluctuation and vibration.
In comparison to other
mount assembly systems, Paramounts come standard with
matched outputs and field-replaceable load cell cable,
which reduces installation time and service costs.
Rice Lake Weighing Systems,
an ISO 9001-registered company, has been the leader in the
industrial scale and process-control weighing industry for
over 50 years. We design, manufacture, and distribute
equipment through a worldwide network of independent scale
distributors, and offer over 20,000 products —the
largest selection of quality weighing products available—and
the best customer service in the business.

| Composites :
Consistent Feeding Equipment Is Critical To Manufacturers
Manufacturers
of deck board, railings, spindles, molding, window, and
door trim who utilize wood-fiber plastics in their
processes must have equipment that is durable and
versatile enough to make quick changes yet maintain
consistent accuracies.
AccuRate's Mechatron
feeders offer manufacturers of wood-fiber composites the
ability to disassemble, clean, and reconfigure from the
non-process side all in a matter of minutes. This enables
users to change materials or recipes without typical time
consuming procedures that are characteristic of many dry
bulk material feeders.
In addition to versatility,
the Mechatron feeders accuracy in feeding colorants is
critical for maintaining color consistency in wood-fiber
plastic composite products. If the amount of colorant
going into a process varies from one production run to the
next, color matching or constancy of product becomes
difficult to maintain. With the gravimetric accuracies of
± ¼%, based on the material's characteristics, the
Mechatron feeder helps maintain the consistent color
quality from one production run to the next.
Mechatron feeders are
offered in low range, mid range, and high range models
with feed rates spanning from .058 to 1,100 cubic feet
(1.6 to 31,152 liters) per hour. The feeders also feature
both flexible wall (Coni-Flex) and all stainless steel,
rigid wall (Coni-Steel) feed hoppers.

Mr. Jenkins needs
help with dust collection:
I am looking for better
technology for collecting fine particles and dust that my
plant currently produces.
Currently I have many bag
houses and find that they consume a lot of compressed air
(which makes the electrical bill soar) and the bags are
expensive and need to be changed frequently and changing
the bags is not an easy task.
Any help would greatly be
appreciated.

Mr. Illias needs
cooling a centrifuge:
I have a small problem that
I need to be solved. We have a centrifuge of Ellerwerk
type 736 U-A.
We are having a problem
that we are unable to run it continuously. It gets stuck .
We know that this problem can be resolved by supplying N2
gas for cooling purpose. It already has the points for
feeding the gas.
But the problem is that we
don't know the specifications of cooling system i.e., what
should be the temperature & what should be the flow
etc.
Can anybody help? I
am sure there must be people out here in the forum who are
using this centrifuge or have used it in the past.
