K-Tron Wins the Reader’s Choice
Award
PITMAN,
NJ -- Control Magazine, a Putman Media trade journal serving
the process automation market, recently awarded K-Tron their
2007 Readers Choice Award for “Inline Weighing Systems.”
Twenty
percent of the readers responding to the Control Magazine
digital survey named K-Tron as the best supplier of Inline
Weighing Systems. Rice Lake Weighing Systems came in second
with 15%, Hardy Instruments third with 6% and Acrison and
Siemens Energy & Automation both had 5%.
According to Putman Publications, the selection process is
entirely in the hands of the readers. Their product
preferences are based on real-world field experiences,
without any prompting from Putman. Putman is convinced that
results from this type of unaided survey are more respected
by the technology users and specifiers in the process
control user community than any other product award model.

Batching System Solves Dust Problems
Brunswick,
OH -- Metso BEST, Inc. has developed a unique batching
system that solves dust problems and saves time. A
manufacturer required a clean, accurate method of
batching out specific amounts of various carbon black
materials in a process that required frequent changes of
the materials.
Metso BEST engineers designed
a gain-in-weight bulk-bag unloading station with an
interchangeable-frame system complete with unloader
assembly. After closing a butterfly valve, the original
frame is lifted out of the stationary feeding station
and replaced by a second frame with different material.
Its butterfly valve is opened and the material change is
complete.
For gain-in-weight batching,
carbon black is metered out of the unloading station
into a plastic bin, which is indexed onto a scale. When
initiated, the system automatically dispenses the proper
amount of material, accurate to +/- 0.1 lbs. on a 75 lb.
batch.
The complete process is
accomplished in a dust-free environment. The system is
readily adaptable to other applications. Materials and
processes are tested in Metso BEST’s onsite testing
facilities.
Metso BEST, Inc. is a leading
manufacturer of precision-engineered equipment, turn-key
systems and technologically advanced controls for a wide
variety of dry powder and solids processing industries.
