Affordable Fire Protection for Your Dust Collector
------------------------------------------------------------

GreCon Spark Detection and Extinguishment Systems prevent dust
fires and explosions by extinguishing sparks before they reach
the filter, greatly reducing risk of injury to personnel,
downtime and damage to equipment. The sensors contain photo
elements that detect a spark's infrared radiation. The smallest
spark triggers the sensing element then immediately releases
a fine mist of water (or other extinguishing agent) downstream,
extinguishing the spark without interrupting production or
adversely affecting the filter media.

A variety of configurations can be used to protect different
applications in a plant. GreCon will work with each customer
to determine how many zones need protection and what equipment
is most suitable for their plant. GreCon recently redesigned
their CC-700 console, which is intended primarily for those
applications requiring an affordable single zone of protection
for their dust collection system. It is also applicable for
larger plants that may have a remote location requirement.

GreCon also manufacturers consoles to protect multiple zones,
as well as abort gates, booster pumps and plug up detection
systems.

GreCon's North American operations are headquartered in Tigard,
Oregon, with worldwide operations based in Alfeld, Germany.
GreCon offers global service, research and development, and
distribution capabilities from both locations. Since 1911
they have been a valued partner to industry and have continued
to create and apply innovative technology to maximize customer
production and satisfaction. Their commitment is realized
through continual communication with their customers, quality
control and reliable service after the sale. GreCon Systems
are fully warranted and are approved by Factory Mutual (FM)
and German Association of Property Insurers (VdS). GreCon
is an ISO 9001 company.

New Control System Introduced for Collette Processors
------------------------------------------------------------

Columbia, MD - Niro Pharma Systems today announced a new
PC-based visualization and control software package for its
Collette Ultima single pot processors and Collette GRAL
high-shear mixer-granulators. The state-of-the-art PROCOLL PRO
system gives a visual image of all important details, including
graphical animations of the mixer and chopper, so that
operators can monitor the complete process and equipment
accurately. This enhancement to the Collette production
units provides the standardization, reliability, and
validation required by the pharmaceutical industry.

The PROCOLL PRO control system is based on Intellution
software packages iBatch and iFIX, which provide standardized,
reliable modules that work together with ease. Niro Pharma
Systems is the only supplier of high-shear granulators and
one-pot systems with a fully batch-orientated control software
based on the ISA S88.01 standard for automation of batch
processes.

With flexibility for complete manual operation or optional
recipe-controlled automatic operation, the PROCOLL PRO
control package is designed to work as a standalone system
as well as a linked system integrated into a production
network. Reports can be generated providing process
documentation through the standard database that records all
inputs, parameters and events.

Niro Inc. is an international company specializing in the
manufacture of equipment for the production of materials in
powder, granulate, agglomerate, or tablet form. Niro products
include spray dryers and coolers, flash dryers, continuous

Trebor Commissions Recycling Systems in Texas and Canada
------------------------------------------------------------

Jacksonville, FL - Trebor Resource Recovery, L.L.C. recently
completed the commissioning of an electrostatic separation
system for Lopez Scrap Metal, Inc. in El Paso, Texas. The
system recovers the metallic material from dry, granulated,
liberated and free flowing materials with a particle size
between 3mm and 100 mesh.

The electrostatic system is designed to process complex scrap
and chopped telecommunications cable and has a capacity of
up to 2500 lbs./hr. Trebor supplied the material handling
devices, separation equipment and start up services that
will be used; in conjunction with grinding and other material
handling equipment.

The Lopez Project is an example of Trebor’s ability to work
closely with the client to solve their particular separation
dilemma by combining consultative problem solving with
technical project management.

Also, Trebor commissioned another recycling project for B & M
Metal Recycling in Ontario, Canada. The equipment processes
chopped wire tailings at a rate of just over a ton/hour.

Trebor engineered the layout and provided the general
arrangement drawings for the recovery circuit. We also
provided the location for platforms and access areas,
material-handling devices, as well as the electrical and
air specifications for the multipass aspirator and the
electrostatic separator.

With over 20 years of addressing physical separation
problems Trebor Resource Recovery, L.L.C. is proud to
be servicing the wire and cable, computer scrap and
other recycling industries. Our dedicated staff has
the ability and knowledge to assist you in many aspects
of recycling and material handling of recycled materials.
Our goal is to offer our customers the ability to
maximize profits by increasing the recovery of
recyclable materials.

Hot Messages from the Help Forum

People post their requests for help and offer their suggestions
to others in our open forum.

Mr. Cameron needs help with powder residue cleaning:

Does anyone have any suggestions on ways to remove powder
residues from the inside of bins (approx 3m3)? Using high
pressure air or water isn't really an option due to dust
concerns and the need to refill the bins with powder
immediately afterwards.

From my first impressions some sort of vibrating/ultrasonic
device may be the solution (although I wouldn't know any
suppliers or where to find that kind of thing)... any help
with this would be greatly appreciated.

Mr. Cox wants info on discharge augers:

I wish to discharge a square "cage" full of fertilizer sideways
from the base to a conveyor running along each side, but have
some problems with uneven discharge.
