New Sponsor : Flexicon Corporation

Jacksonville Beach, FL -- We are pleased to announce that Flexicon Corporation has become a sponsor of Powder and Bulk Dot Com.

Flexicon Corporation is a world leader in the design and manufacture of bulk handling equipment and custom-engineered and integrated plant-wide systems that transport, discharge, fill, weigh, blend, deliver and/or feed a broad range of powder and bulk solid materials.

Flexicon products range from individual equipment to automated systems that source bulk material from interior and exterior plant locations, transport it between process equipment and storage vessels, weigh it, blend it, feed it to packaging lines, extruders, molding machines and storage vessels, and load it into railcars and trailers.

An extensive research and development program continually sets new standards for bulk handling equipment performance with entirely new designs, product improvements and equipment that complies with certifications required by governmental and industry associations for chemical, food, dairy and pharmaceutical applications - both nationally and internationally.

Flexicon's design engineering staff devises efficient solutions to the most unusual problems with highly custom equipment, basing solutions on unique customer requirements, not merely on existing product line offerings. This approach provides each customer with the most efficient solution to his or her individual problem.

Polyurethane Belting Takes the Bull by the Horns

Charlotte, NC -- Fenner-Dunlop Lightweight Conveyor Belting (FDLW) is pleased to announce the introduction of its new line Polyurethane belting products designed for today’s toughest and most abrasive applications.

“Our new Polyurethane products are performance engineered solutions that deliver reliability, safety, and value, meeting the challenges of the toughest applications,” stated David Schempp, VP of Sales & Marketing for FDLW. “Our extensive product range offers both Interwoven and plied fabric carcasses in tension ratings up to 210 lbs./inch, foodgrade and non-foodgrade Polyurethane and Polyurethane blended compounds in durometers of 85 and 90 (Shore A), and cover thicknesses up to 2mm.” FDLW’s unique extrusion process provides smooth and consistent belt covers that are the best in the industry and easy to fabricate using typical thermoplastic techniques.

FDLW’s Red Polyurethane products have been specifically designed for the demanding applications typically found in the metals stamping, general stamping, recycling, and foundry industries where abrasion, cutting, and gouging prematurely destroy lesser products.

The Clear and White Polyurethane products have been designed to stand up to the toughest applications in the food industry where extended belt life and the ability to maintain sanitary conditions are essential to efficient production and reduced downtime.

The Green Polyurethane products are produced from the most abrasion resistant thermoset Polyurethane compounds that are proven winners in high abrasion applications in the automotive and steel industries.

Magnetic Chip and Parts Conveyors for Abrasive Materials

NEWTON, KS - Bunting Magnetics Co. has used 3-D solid-model technology to design its line of beltless MagSlide(TM) Chip and Parts Conveyors to handle sharp, abrasive parts and scrap that can damage conventional conveyors with belts.

Permanently lubricated drive chains move permanently charged high-energy Ceramic or Rare Earth magnets inside the conveyor housing. These magnets, in turn, move ferrous materials along the conveyor's heavy-gauge stainless steel slider beds. Bunting MagSlide Conveyors are built to be economical to operate and economical to maintain.

The rugged twin-roller drive chains that hold and move the conveyor magnets travel in oil-impregnated Bunting SlideTrack(TM) channels made from ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) that provide continuous lubrication. Friction and noise are minimized. To further extend chain life, built-in oil fittings permit manual or automatic supplemental lubrication.

MagSlide Conveyors are CAD engineered and manufactured on advanced CNC punching, milling, and turning equipment for precision fit and long-term reliability. Models include horizontal, inclined, and angled units with both fixed and mobile bases, as well as low-profile conveyors. Except for the electric motor, all moving parts are totally enclosed.

Optional watertight housings can be submerged. Bunting also makes a wide range of magnetic belt conveyors, conveyor systems, and conveyor components.

Friable Materials : Selecting a Pneumatic Conveying System

The vast majority of conveying systems are of the dilute phase type since they are less expensive and more adaptable. Dilute phase conveying also provides less particle to particle interaction, which reduces particle size and shape degradation. Whenever degradation is a concern, its three primary causes must be addressed: velocity of material, angle of impact, and hardness of the material impacted...(more)
