CPT‘s core business is design and supply of mineral processing equipment, specializing in column flotation systems. “The acquisition of CPT will enable us to further extend our capabilities and product offerings to the mining and process industries. Additionally, it will help us serve our Canadian and South American customers more quickly and efficiently,” said Mike Mankosa, Eriez’ Vice President of Operations. The company will immediately begin executing the planned integration of Eriez’ and CPT’s operations. “Everything is in place for a smooth, seamless transition.”

Eriez’ acquisition of CPT comes on the heels of the company’s completion of a 32,000 square foot addition to its Erie, PA world headquarters. “2006 was a banner year for Eriez,” said Tim Shuttleworth, President and CEO. “Acquiring CPT is the perfect way to begin another very exciting year for Eriez.”

The New Brabender DualTray Feeder

Mississauga, Canada -- The Brabender DualTray Feeder is a mass flow metering feeder featuring vertical flow of the metered ingredients and utilising both natural bulk ingredient flow and gravity. The feeder is supplied fully mounted in a free-standing mounting base inclusive of load cells as a complete loss-in-weight feeder.

The operating principle is based on two or more cylindrical feed modules with integrated semicircular guide and feed trays across a part of the modules' cross sections. The feed modules are configured one above the other in opposite feed directions with the discharge edges of the feed trays overlapping. Applying vibration and thus changing the angle of repose induces ingredient flow.

Following gravity, the ingredient flows downwards across the vibrating trays similar to a cascade and without segregation, while the flow rate is controlled by variable vibration. Switching the vibration off stops the ingredient flow instantaneously because the ingredient assumes its angle of repose again. Hence, the feeder is also perfectly suitable for batching.

As the Brabender DualTray Feeder has no rotating parts, it is particularly suitable for damageable bulk ingredients easily damaged or destroyed by mechanical strain. In addition, its operating principle makes the feeder suitable for bulk ingredients with grains of different sizes, particularly lumpy media, and for fibres.

The Brabender DualTray Feeder was systematically designed for easy dismantling and quick cleaning. The feed unit can be disconnected from the vibration drive simply by releasing a fixation handle. The individual feed modules and the outlet cone can then be removed for cleaning or exchange within minutes by releasing the clamping rings interconnecting them. The vibration drive remains mounted in place.

Due to its quick cleaning features and as it does not deteriorate bulk ingredients, the feeder particularly complies with demands made by the food industry and can be supplied in a suitable sanitary version.

Largest Australian Screener at Cargill Beef

TAMWORTH, AUSTRALIA -- Cargill Beef Australia began screening meat meal at its Tamworth plant using the largest circular vibratory screen separator manufactured in Australia, according to Tim Mellor, sales & product manager for Rendertech Ltd. of Chelsea, Victoria, licensee of Kason Corporation.

The screener is a stainless steel 84 in. (2134 mm) diameter Kason Vibroscreen model K84-1-SS equipped with a 3 hp (2.2 kW) unbalanced weight gyratory motor, stainless steel screen with .09 in. (2.2 mm) apertures, ball tray anti-blinding device and dust cover.

According to Bruce Collier, Cargill’s rendering supervisor, the unit has a throughput of 2 to 3.5 tons of meat meal per hour and is installed adjacent to a 60 in. (1524 mm) Kason Vibroscreen model K60-1-SS that screens fines from tallow. Installed in September 2005, the smaller unit is equipped with a .017 in. (0.42 mm) aperture screen, Kleen Screen anti-blinding rings, splash cover and 2.5 hp (1.85 kW) gyratory motor.

Other Kason equipment manufactured in Australia includes low-profile vibratory screeners, centrifugal screeners, and circular fluid bed dryers, coolers and moisturizers.

Help Forum : Hot Messages from the Help Forum

Mr. Murray wants a LIW feeder to meter out ice:

I am in need of a piece of equipment to accurately meter 20 pounds of ice. My first choice would be a loss in weight bin with a screw conveyer that can move ice.

I need my cycle time to be around 10 to 15 sec. At a bulk density of 28 pounds/CF, this comes to around 3.6 CF/Min. Cost prohibitive, a volumetric metering system may be acceptable if I can be assured that the accuracy is within + or - 3 to 5% (+ or - 1 pound or less).

Also, I would like this system to pull out of a bin that has a capacity of around 110 CF or 150 20-pound batches. I am limited on height by 7.5 feet.

If someone could point me in the right direction and give me an estimated cost for this system, I would greatly appreciate it.  (to post reply, click here)

Mr. Holleran needs a valve for a vessel:

I understand that there is a valve that directly mounts to the vessel and extends the motive spring (screw?) through the nozzle.

This is not a solid piston, like the Strahman or Federhoff designs.  When it retracts the end of the screw seals to the valve body.

If someone can point me to the vendor, I would appreciate it.
