World Flexible Intermediate Bulk Container Congress & Exhibition
------------------------------------------------------------

Dusseldorf, Germany, 2-3 November 2000

After a highly successful World FIBC ‘98 Congress & Exhibition
(more than 200 delegates from over 30 countries attended the
event) in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, Millennium Conferences
International has pleasure in announcing the 2nd World Flexible
Intermediate Bulk Container 2000 Congress & Exhibition.

The perfectly timed two-day event will provide an international
forum for discussion and will be of considerable benefit to
end-users, manufacturers and suppliers.

Through "A Call for Papers" Millennium Conferences International
aims to put together a conference program to appraise the
opportunities and pitfalls that lie ahead in the New Millennium.

Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers (FIBCs) - also known as
bulk bags or big bags - started to gain acceptance in the
mid-1970s. Designed to transport bulk materials safely in unit
loads usually of between 500 and 1500kg, they soon showed
significant cost savings as well as logistical advantages
over traditional methods of moving powders and granules in
palletized 25kg or 50kg sacks.

In recent years the technology of FIBCs has grown at the
phenomenal rate of more than 10% per annum. Throughout this
time the industry has enjoyed an excellent safety record and
in order to maintain and improve this it is increasingly
important to educate and inform users about current safety
recommendations and legislation.

The conference will highlight market issues, implications of
new regulations, manufacturing, purchasing, usage and disposal
of FIBCs. The Congress offers a rare opportunity - in an
informal and congenial atmosphere - to establish and develop
contacts for the exchange of ideas, information, discussion
and experience.

To maximize contact between delegates and visitors, a small
exhibition adjacent to the main conference hall will complement
the congress.

VacBoss with BlowerGard Filtration Introduced

February 22, 2000 - Blomkest, MN, USA – The revolutionary new
VacBoss with BlowerGard Filtration is gaining tremendous
acceptance by grain elevators, seed companies, and large farmers.
“Since the VacBoss was introduced just a few weeks ago, the
response has been overwhelming!”, stated Tim Flann, VacBoss
Sales Manager. “VacBoss is the result of our customers’ demand
for a truly industrial grain vac. They asked for a vac that
would convey at high capacities, be gentle on seed, and have
a service life beyond that of ‘traditional’ grain vacs.” VacBoss
is the first grain vac able to withstand rigorous conveying
conditions in commercial grain and seed handling environments
as evidenced by its 5-Year / 2,500 Hour Abrasion-Free Blower
Limited Warranty.

The VacBoss exclusive BlowerGard Filtration increases blower
life due to nearly 100% filtering efficiency. You can now
convey grains and a multitude of dusty products, including
meals and feeds, without damaging the blower. Your investment
is protected - capacities remain high over time because blower
efficiency doesn’t decrease.

The new VacBoss is 35% more energy efficient than traditional
grain vacs with comparable capacities. With VacBoss, grain
and seed handling damage is virtually eliminated.

VacBoss Model 4066 is available as PTO, diesel or electric
powered, and will load trucks at up to 4,000 bu/hr through 6”
piping with as little as 90 HP.

Christianson Systems, Inc. - the maker of VacBoss - has over
25 years of experience making some of the world’s largest
grain handling equipment.

Magnetic Traps Solve Metal Contamination Problems in Liquid Lines
------------------------------------------------------------

In-line permanent magnetic Ferrous Traps remove magnetic and
heavy nonmagnetic contaminants from liquid lines, providing
protection for downstream processing equipment. Such separators
preserve product purity by removing even small, weakly magnetic
particles like scale, rust and fine iron contamination.

A group of magnetic tubes is arranged to cause the material flow
entering the body to impinge against those tubes and filter
through the magnetic field. Their position takes advantage of
the change in direction of the flow and the difference in inertia
between any unwanted iron and the material carrying it. The
magnetic circuit is designed so the entrapped iron will have a
tendency to work around and cling to the downstream side of the
tubes.

This action prevents iron particles from being washed off by
the continuous flow of material.

Eriez Ferrous Traps are available for manual cleaning (Models
L, L-2-F and Super-B), as well as an Easy-to-Clean version of
the Super-B. All Eriez Traps are available with either standard
Erium permanent magnetic elements or with SuperStrength Rare
Earth Erium 3000 elements for up to 25 times more magnetic pull.
Several brochures are available for additional information.

Mr. Esma needs slidegate information:

Hello! I am connected with a contracting firm and I was wondering
if you have heard of a supplier of slidegates named Lafontaine.
If you do please send me their webpage. I never thought a site
like this existed! Very informative!

Mr. Jackson wants to know what to do with his spray dryer:

Recently purchased a building that holds a Stork spray dryer
that has been decommissioned for a number of years. I am not
involved in this industry at all hence my need of your help. As
I understand it, this dryer operated for around 5 years and
was then left as the regional dairy company went onto bigger
and brighter things. The dryer looks to be in good condition
and passed crack testing not so long ago. Apparently could
spray dry 3.5 ton per hour of milk powder. Question; is it
worth anything as a dryer or should I have it scrapped ?

Appreciated your comments and expertise.

Mr. Mueller needs advise on fine grinding:

I wonder if I find some sufficient information for my problem
on the forum here. I am trying to grind polymer particles,
with the size of approx. 1 - 5 mm down to approx. 1 micron.
I have to know the kind of grinder I will need to pursue my
goal. The polymers are on the brittle side and I need a
laboratory scale (batch) only. I got few information from
vendors so far. One recommended a jet mill because other mills
won't grind down to 1 micron. Is this true?

I appreciate any help I can get it this matter.

Thanks,
Cord Mueller
