: New Smart Point Level Switch Designed for Extreme
Conditions
Peterborough,
Canada, April 10, 2003 – The new Siemens Pointek CLS 500
provides accurate point level or interface detection, even
in extreme conditions. It is designed for applications
that typically combine temperature and pressure extremes,
such as those found in the chemical, hydrocarbon, LNG and
other processing industries.
It is effective in
temperatures from -200°C to 400°C (-328°F to 752°F)
and pressures from full vacuum to 525 bar (7665 psi).
This smart level switch
features HART® communications for remote commissioning
and inspection. It features integrated local display for
easy on-site installation and set-up, including
push-button calibration. Full-function diagnostics comply
with NAMUR NE 43 for both local and remote diagnostics,
showing all the relevant variables at the same instant.
Its advanced, microprocessor-based electronics provide for
optional one-point calibration that makes set-up possible
without shutting down the production process.
Special features of the
Pointek CLS 500 ensure unsurpassed accuracy and long-term
stability. The unique inverse-frequency approach to
capacitance technology provides high resolution. The
patented Active-Shield technology protects the measurement
from the effects of moisture, vapors, foam, material
build-up, and temperature or pressure variations. The 420
kHz transmitter provides accurate, repeatable readings
even in cases of extreme product build-up.
An integrated zener safety
barrier blocks excess energy from the transmitter to the
sensor for intrinsically safe conditions. It is approved
for hazardous conditions, and has Lloyd’s Register
approval for use in marine applications.
It is the latest addition
to the Pointek family of point level devices. The Pointek
line includes Pointek CLS 100 for compact spaces, CLS 200
for general process high and low level alarms, and CLS 300
for abrasive or demanding high-temperature, high-pressure
applications.

| Manufacturing
: D&E Pharmaceuticals to Offer Contract Services
BLOOMINGDALE, N.J., May 7 /PRNewswire/
-- D&E Pharmaceuticals, Inc., today announced the
launch of its contract manufacturing services initiative,
which will provide small to medium nutraceutical suppliers
with a source of manufacturing expertise and
infrastructure.
Under the program, D&E
will provide the small to medium dietary supplement
retailer, wholesaler or manufacturer with end-to-end
production capabilities by sharing their expertise in
formulation, new product development, blending,
encapsulating, labeling, packaging (bottling, packeting,
bulk powders) and global fulfillment.
"The extension of our
business model into Contract Manufacturing Services,"
says Eric Organ, President of D&E Pharmaceuticals,
"leverages the increased capacity of our recently
expanded 30,000 sq. ft. facility, and also provides access
to a rare and valuable source for product integrity in the
small to medium size batch run. The door is no longer
closed to the small organization looking to launch its own
private label."
For nearly a quarter of a
century, D&E Pharmaceuticals has evolved into a
dietary supplement company with a core competency in
nutraceutical manufacturing. The company formulates,
develops and manufacturers its own brands of dietary
nutritionals, sports supplements and life enhancing
nutraceuticals for loyal retail, wholesale, online and
catalog customers, both domestically and internationally.
"Our recently expanded
facility, experienced personnel, implementation of NNFA
GMP guidelines and successful history uniquely position us
for this next natural progression of our business,"
said Organ. "Our new offering allows our clientele to
outsource some or all of the manufacturing processes and
focus on their sales and marketing efforts, while we
handle their production needs. They can have us private
label one of our 1,000+ existing formulas for them or have
us assist them in developing their own product(s)."
D&E Pharmaceuticals,
Inc. is a privately held manufacturer who offers a
complete line of private label vitamins, minerals, herbs
and supplements. The company is committed to the continued
development of its own line, and supporting the
development and commercialization of products for other
small to medium sized nutraceutical companies.

| Low Noise
and Heat : New Supreme Roll Mills
Livingston,
NJ -- Supreme Model 1010 Roll Mills provide dependable
reduction of a wide variety of solids to a tightly
controlled particle size. These industrial duty double
roll mills are uniquely capable of milling or cracking
within a narrow output range without degrading the
valuable qualities of the feed material.
Utilizing an efficient,
gentle, once-through action, these units can attain
results that can not be duplicated with any other size
reduction techniques. The 1010 is available in stainless
steel as well as carbon steel construction.
Highly efficient in
operation, Supreme Roll Mills produce very low noise or
heat rise. Unlike other systems, there are no screens to
plug and no requirement for classifiers. Materials are
milled to controlled mesh sizes from 13 to 150 mesh
without high impact, high stress or high speed rotation.
Supreme Roll Mills are
available with smooth, serrated and grooved rolls. The
units are manufactured in single, tandem or triple pass
configurations depending on reduction ratio required.
Options include cooled or heated rolls, jacketed body
construction, recirculation systems, inlet feeders,
automatic controls, variable speed controls and hard
chrome plated rolls.

Laboratory
Equipment : Niro Sells Its 2000th Mobile Minor Spray Dryer
Niro
has supplied its 2000th Mobile Minor spray dryer since the
unit was first introduced in 1948. The unit was delivered,
in January 2003 to the customer, Danisco Beaminster Ltd.
(a daughter of the Danish DANISCO group).
Since its
introduction, the Mobile Minor has gone through much
evolution to keep it ahead of its competition. It has
always been recognized as the industry standard for
small-scale spray drying equipment. Dave Dubbin, the Sales
Director for Niro in the UK acknowledged that it was a
remarkable achievement for any piece of equipment.
"2000 might not sound like a high number, but that's
the equivalent of almost one spray dryer a week for over
50 years," he said.
Danisco will
be using the Mobile Minor as part of its research and
development facility for food preservatives. It will be
used to test processes and products ahead of full-scale
production and to produce small samples of product for
customer evaluation.
Anders Berg
Christensen, the Project Engineer handling the sale in
Copenhagen, added that the Mobile Minor owes its dominant
market share in part to its flexibility making it ideal
for a wide variety of applications and capable of being
adapted as production schedules change.
The Mobile
Minor is also available with closed cycle operation for
use with organic solvents and as a Pharmaceutical version,
the PHARMASD, type PSD-1. A new IFD (Integrated Filter
Dryer) version of the Mobile Minor will soon be available.

Our current method of measuring

Mr. Redstone is
looking for a breakthrough:
I am seeking a new
breakthrough high traction pulley lagging for the
Australian and Asian market. I introduced Slide Lag to the
Australian market in 1971 and had it installed in quarries
and mines throughout Au, NZ and Asia. I have not been able
to find anything more advanced than the latest ceramic
bonded laggings.
Maybe someone knows of a
new development - a new patent or even a new
pulley/lagging configuration/combination that
takes the science to a new level. Big market for a
breakthrough in this area as there are still problems.
Also seeking other breakthrough innovative bulk materials
