ThyssenKrupp to Supply Port in
Ukraine
Essen,
Germany -- At the Port of Yuzhny, one of the largest
seaports on the Black Sea, a modern coal and ore handling
terminal has been built, reaching a capacity of up to 10
million tons per year. The terminal owner is the company TIS
Transinvest Service of Odessa in the Ukraine and
ThyssenKrupp Fordertechnik of St. Ingbert will supply the
essential materials handling equipment for the commodities.
Following extensive negotiations, the contract documents
awarding the contract to supply equipment to the value of
almost 10 million euros were signed at this year’s BAUMA
exhibition in Munich.
Since
1994, contracts totaling approximately 30 million euros have
been successfully concluded between TIS and TKF and, with
the award of this new contract, together with other orders
from the former Soviet Union, ThyssenKrupp Fordertechnik
have been able to repeatedly prove their technical
competence, performance and efficiency over the last two
years.
Coal
and ore are delivered to the terminal in open wagons. At a
separate unloading station, the wagons will be lifted from
the rail track and simultaneously emptied into a bunker by
means of a side discharge dumper which turns the wagons
upside down to release the material. (See photo above.)
The
wagon unloading station has a capacity of 1,600 t/h. From
there, the material will be conveyed to an open stockyard
where it will be stockpiled by a stacker. In order to load
it into ships, the material will be reclaimed from the
stockpile by a reclaimer and transported to the respective
loading pier in the port via a conveyor system, where a TKF
shiploader with a capacity of 3,500 t/h will feed the
material into ships ranging in size up to 120,000 DWT.
Special requirements had to be taken into consideration when
designing and configuring the machines, particularly with
regard to environmental protection, i.e. dust and noise
emissions, as well as ease of operation. ThyssenKrupp
Fordertechnik were able to use their many years of
experience and knowledge of shiploader construction in order
to implement the necessary measures and solutions which were
required to achieve an environmentally friendly plant.
ThyssenKrupp Fordertechnik
ThyssenKrupp Fordertechnik looks back on more than 140 years
of experience and know-how concerning its range of
activities. This enables the company to design, supply and
assemble individual machines and systems as well as complete
major projects specially oriented towards the requirements
of the customers.

New Thompson Heavy-Duty Checkweigher
Houston,
TX -- Thompson Scale's model 4693 Heavy-Duty
Checkweigher is designed for industrial and
institutional packaging applications, with weight ranges
from 1 lb to 500 lbs. Weigh station conveyors range from
4' long up to 5' long and run at speeds up to 220 feet
per minute. The checkweigher's production rate of up to
50 units per minute meets the weight requirements of
most industrial bag and box products.
This version of the
checkweigher is unique because of its ability to weigh
accurately at angles up to plus or minus 12 degrees. Its
pop-up reject mechanism allows for quick and easy
rejection of off-spec items. It also features an
internally controlled pacing conveyor to ensure properly
spaced packages across the scale for precise weighing.
This checkweigher is a
simple, easy to use, rugged, yet highly accurate
production scale. Although the 4693 Heavy-Duty
Checkweigher is specifically designed for harsh,
abusive, dirty environments commonly found in the
cement, concrete, soil, and bark industries; it remains
extremely accurate and dependable. Users in the
chemical, starch, flour, and salt industries can also
rely on this checkweigher for their quality control by
weight.
The 4693 Heavy-Duty
Checkweigher is designed for heavy products in many
shapes or sizes. Items compatible with the 4693 include
anything from bagged product, to boxes, cartons, and
pails. A variety of weigh station conveyors are
