Magnetic Rota-Grates® Reduce Process Interruptions
------------------------------------------------------------
Rota-Grate® Permanent Magnetic Separators can eliminate the
need to shut down production lines should fine particle ferrous
contamination be discovered in dry, free-flowing products
under gravity flow. They are particularly effective in
separating ferrous contamination in finely ground cohesive
materials like flour and corn starch.
Eriez offers Rota-Grates in manual, easy to clean and self
cleaning models. Diameters of 12", 16" and 22" are standard
with widths ranging from 4 to 32 inches wide.
All models consist of tube magnets rotating on a reel keeping
difficult products flowing freely. At regular inspection
intervals, manual clean models must be wiped down to remove
ferrous contaminants that have been attracted to the magnetic
tubes. With the easy to clean option, individual tubes may
be removed from the reel for more efficient wipe down. An
easy to clean Rota-Grate is shown in the accompanying
picture.
http://www.eriez.com/resources/images/products/RotoGrat(72).jpg
The self-cleaning models provide easier, more frequent
cleaning to prevent excessive iron contamination build
up on the magnets, assuring maximum performance. At preset
intervals, the product flow is halted and the self-cleaning
cycle is activated. The control box includes a programmable
timer, which is adjustable for frequency of the cleaning
cycle. The reel assembly is pneumatically retracted to a
ferrous discharge area outside the product area. The one-inch
diameter tube magnets are cleaned automatically. Ferrous
material is then discharged into a chute and the reel is
returned to the housing.

New Conveyor Ideal for Compactible Materials
------------------------------------------------------------
For handling difficult-to-convey materials that tend to cake
or compact while being conveyed, Triple/S Dynamics introduces
the Slipstick Conveyor with a patented system for breaking
up compacted dry materials. At controlled intervals, the
surface of the horizontal conveyor is arched upward to break
up accumulated material, allowing it to continue moving down
the length off the conveyor.
The trough of the conveyor, which may be covered and clamped
for dust control, is lined with a UHMW sheet. UHMW exhibits
excellent abrasion resistance and release characteristics and
works even better when it is distorted to break up accumulations
of caked fines.
The arching motion is induced in the UHMW liner by inflating
a collapsed tube that extends along the length of the conveyor,
beneath the UHMW liner. A timer is used for controlling the
interval at which compressed air is alternately fed into the
tube and then released after the accumulated material bed is
broken up for conveying.
For horizontal conveying of green foundry sands or other
sticky or compacting materials, the Slipstick Conveyor provides
a better solution for tackling difficult material handling
problems.

Monitor Introduces the Next Generation of Rotary Paddle Units
------------------------------------------------------------
ELBURN, IL. - The SafePoint fail-safe bin level monitor is the
state-of-the-art in rotary paddle technology. Utilizing patent
pending magnetic sensing technology and a new unique housing
design, the SafePoint bin monitor is the most reliable,
technician-friendly, rugged and economical point level control
sensor of its kind.
The SafePoint bin monitor provides the ultimate in performance
wherever critical continuous operation must be ensured. Not
only does this paddle unit detect material presence on a
continuous basis; it also checks its own operational status.
Material sense and fail-safe outputs are provided on all models.
The operation of the SafePoint rotary paddle bin monitor uses
Monitor¹s magnetic sensing technology to detect both material
presence and operational status of the unit. The rotation of
the unit¹s shaft is continuously monitored by detection of a
magnetized rotating disk (patent pending). Use of these magnetic
sensing techniques eliminates problems that may occur with
fouling of the optical systems used by other brands.
The unique housing design features a twist on/off cover, so
there are no more bolts to drop or lose. A local status
indicating light is located on the top of the unit for most
models. Additionally, the SafePoint unit also has two conduit
entrances for wiring access.
In addition, unlike most paddle units, the SafePoint incorporates
a feature that automatically shuts off the motor when the paddle
is impeded. This extends the life of the unit and minimizes
maintenance.
The SafePoint fail-safe bin monitor is also available with
hazardous location approvals.
