Efficiency : Heaters and Air Cannon on Impactors
Aurora,
IN -Optional apron heaters and air cannon are now
available on Grand Slam impactors from Stedman. Customers
can tailor the impactor for specific high moisture
applications.
The apron heaters with
temperature controller included, can be installed on both
the primary and secondary aprons of the impactor, making
it ideal for use in wet and sticky applications such as
clay, shale, fertilizer and chemical to minimize buildup.
The air cannon located between the aprons discharges a
blast of air into the crushing chamber to quickly and
easily dislodge material buildup in the crushing chamber.
The air cannon also significantly reduces cross-color
contamination.
Together the heaters with
the air cannon and elimination of ledges and minimal
ribbing allow for faster crushing chamber clean out and
increase efficiency.
Stedman Grand Slam
impactors operate as both a primary and secondary crusher
and deliver up to a 30:1 material reduction for more
properly sized materials the first time through. The
impactors are available in capacities ranging in size from
5 to 800 TPH and can be customized for specific
applications.

Standard : Magnet/Detector Combo Prevents Milk Powder
Contamination
Waalre,
Netherlands -- Goudsmit Magnetic Systems presents a fully
automatic rotating clean-flow magnet which removes ferrous
particles from milk powder. This new magnet type for
continuous production processes can be cleaned
automatically.. Moreover, the company supplies the magnet
in combination with their metal detector so the product is
finally checked just before loading and no metal
contamination is left in the milk powder.
Substances which are sticky
and irregular in shape, as for instance milk powder, form
a bridge over the magnet rods as they are mounted above
each other in a staggered position. The rotating movement
prevents the product from sticking on the rods.
The system is suited for 40
m3 powder per hour and is of course executed in an
extremely hygienic version.

Mr. Mack needs help
transferring bulk sugar:
I am currently working on a
project which involves the transfer of material from one
rail car to another. We have tried to use a dry bulk
transfer truck which did not work. Right now we are using
a wet/dry vacuum truck (an air mover) with a cyclone
attachment.
The cyclone is mounted on
top of the rail car so that (theoretically) the material
will pass through the cyclone and drop into the rail car.
We are having a major "blow by" problem. The
material is so fine that only a small amount will drop
into the cyclone and into the railcar. The majority of the
material is continuing through the cyclone and into the
truck's debris box. We have adjusted the vacuum hose size,
the timing of the cyclone valves, and several other ideas;
none seem to work.
I would greatly appreciate
any input that you may have.
