New Motion Sensing Probe Protects Process Equipment
------------------------------------------------------------
Peterborough, Canada, October 12, 2000 - The new Milltronics
XPP-5 motion sensing probe offers reliable process protection
for virtually all types of rotating or moving machinery.
It monitors any ferrous target. That may include the buckets
on a bucket elevator, the flight of a screw conveyor, a key
way on a motor shaft, or any object that contains iron, whether
it is part of the actual equipment or a piece of metal added
to provide a target for monitoring.
Connected to the Milltronics MFA-4 motion failure alarm, the
motion sensor alerts the operator to an underspeed or an
overspeed condition on the monitored equipment. The operator
can then take immediate action to correct the problem before
serious damage occurs to the equipment.
The XPP-5 is a non-contacting device that mounts outside the
process. It gives reliable speed detection when mounted up
to 100 mm (4 inches) from the target. It’s a highly sensitive
2-wire magnetic probe with a fully potted pre-amplifier and
integral cable. It is CSA hazardous area approved for permanent
installation in Class I, Division 1, Groups A, B, C, and D;
Class I, Division 2, Groups E, F, and G; as well as for Class
III applications.
Milltronics is a leading brand of sophisticated measurement
instruments used by the water and wastewater, aggregate,
cement, mining, chemical, milling, food and other process
industries. Principal product lines include level measurement,
dry solids flow measurement, and process protection devices.
Milltronics products are available worldwide through a
network of sales representatives and distributors.
