Shake, Rattle and Roll - Vibration Pads Calm Machinery
------------------------------------------------------------
Do you have problems with vibrating machinery in your plant?
This is especially true of machinery mounted in upper levels
of a plant or in older buildings. A new type of isolation
pad for mounting machinery on is now available.
EXIM Ltd. supplies X/M pads for use with various types of
machinery -- anywhere there can be a vibration problem, these
pads are most practical. In the textile industry, X/M pads
have been proven to out-perform all other types of anti-vibration
products, and are ideal for air-jet, water-jet and rapier
weaving machines, as well for all types of fly-shuttle looms.
The pads are constructed of a combination of neoprene and blue
polyolefins layered construction for maximum vibration control
and durability.
One should consider trying X/M pads for use with any machines
that may vibrate. Exim will be pleased to offer trial orders
for X/M pads with a 100% satisfaction guarantee on performance.
For trials or for more information about the X/M pads contact

Vibratory Feeder Wins National Award
------------------------------------------------------------
Eriez has earned an Award of Achievement in the 1999 Food
Processing Awards competition for its contributions to
productivity, cost reduction and innovation in the food
industry. The honor was based on the company's creation of
the news, high-deflection vibratory feeder.
Food Processing Awards are presented biennially for the best
new products and processes in the food and beverage industry.
"An independent panel of judges from the food processing
industry evaluated entries on a variety of criteria including
innovation and significance to the food industry," said
Michael Pehanich, Editor-in-Chief of Food Processing Magazine.
High-deflection feeders effectively convey fine powders and
flexible leafy materials such as flour and lettuce - an
achievement which standard electromagnetic feeders can not
claim. The high-deflection feeder uses a patented drive
system that significantly reduces power consumption and
feeds hard-to-feed materials at speeds up to 80 feet per
minute.
Winners of the 1999 Food Processing Awards will be highlighted
in the October issue of the magazine that will feature award-
winning technologies and products from suppliers to the
Top 100 food companies such as Nabisco, H. J. Heinz and
General Foods.
Eriez designs, develops, manufactures and markets advanced
technology equipment for magnetic separation, metal detection
and materials feeding, screening, conveying and controlling
applications.

Tight Technical Job Market Spurs HR Creativity
------------------------------------------------------------
SYRACUSE, NY - November 9, 1999 (INB) -- Facing a critical
shortage of engineers and technical professionals, more than
40 Upstate New York companies have joined forces to attract
employees. The daVinci Project <http://www.daVinciTimes.org>
named for Leonardo, artist, inventor and engineer recruits
talent through a collaborative web site, emphasizing the
under-publicized but significant lifestyle benefits and
career opportunities of this region.
The daVinci site <http://www.daVinciTimes.org>
was named in
the top 50 Best of the Best recruiting sites by
CareerXroads, a leading national career site directory. Job
seekers can post resumes, search more than 250 openings and
apply on-line. And they can browse pages filled with
lifestyle, community and technical resource information. In
just over 18 months, the site registered millions of hits,
facilitated more than 10,000 job searches per month and
member companies have hired nearly 50 new technical
professionals from all over the U.S.
The expanding technology sector in Upstate New York is
creating a wealth of technical jobs an estimated
2,000-3,000 openings over the next three years in daVinci
Project companies alone. The consortium allows these
companies to pool resources, offering a diversity of
positions in technical specialties that include electrical,
mechanical, computer, civil, chemical, environmental,
RF/microwave and consulting engineering, as well as software
and IT.
The Project's collaborative effort extends beyond the
innovative web site This fall, member businesses will share
recruiting strategies in best of practice seminars, a far
cry from the cutthroat competition for employees more
typical of the high tech arena. And the consortium's
Community Partnerships with academia, economic development
programs and non-profit organizations focus on cultivating
and retaining local engineering talent.
This region is gearing up for the technology renaissance
gaining momentum here. Upstate New York has a rich history
of leading-edge thinking, from the first U.S. engineering
college, to the origins of the women's movement, to the
country's first synthetic penicillin. And it is fitting that
the area's current resurgence includes a state - and
federally - funded revitalization of the Erie Canal the
first implementation of Leonardo's canal lock system design.
The daVinci Project's member companies comprise a broad
spectrum of high technology and range from small start-ups
to multinational industry leaders, such as Carrier, Lockheed
Martin and Philips.

I need to unfold some geometries. If anyone can help me to
find an unfold software I will appreciate him.

Mr. Zimmer is looking for a better way to stack mine tailings:
We are investigating a conversion from an end-dump and dozer
spread of fine (-200 mesh), dry (13-15% moisture) tailings
material to an end-dump pocket to conveyor stacker system.
Weather conditions are severe (-10 F to +70 F), with heavy
rainfall. We currently have to build roads into the placement
areas to support the truck fleet.
We are wondering if anyone uses a stacker setup (particularly
in winter) for fine tails placement. A radial stacker would
not work well, but low placement tonnage (average
15,000 tons/month) would allow us to skid-mount a stacker
conveyor for placement.
Looking for ideas! Thanks for your help in advance.
