New Feeder for Low Rates and Controller Package from Arbo
------------------------------------------------------------
MICRO AND MINI FEEDERS
A new vibratory feeder line has been developed to answer the
need of feeding pelletized or good-flowing powdery materials
at very low feed rates, starting from 0.1 lbs./hr.
The new ARBO resonant vibratory feeder are designed so that
the tray and the material on the tray, vibrate at the resonant
or natural frequency of the assembly. This arrangement allows
for a linear feed characteristic and a turn-down ratio between
maximum and minimum feed rates of well over 100 to 1.
The Micro feeder has a feed rate of 0.1 to 50 lbs./hr. and the
Mini feeder has a feed rate of 1 to 200 lbs./hr. The units
are attractively priced and come with standard volumetric
controls. Loss-in-weight units are available.
MULTILINE, MULTIPLE FEEDER CONTROLLER
ARBO offers a new controller for the complete solution to
controlling up to eight feeders of any type, loss-in-weight,
belt or flow metering device.
The Multiline combines a 10-inch color touch screen with
the proven Arbo feeder controller. The enclosure includes
all control devices and connections to the feeders are made
using polarized connectors. This operator interface allows
easy calibration of all the feeders and shows the process
parameters in real-time mode.
The unit has built-in drivers for the most commonly used
PLC's and in Ethernet-ready.

MagHammer Offers a New Solution for Solid Flow Problems
------------------------------------------------------------
New all electromagnetic impact hammer solves solid flow
problems insuring consistent complete flow from bins,
hoppers, cyclones, transport pipes and screw conveyors.
Nippon Magnetics USA, Inc. introduces a new electromagnetic
impact hammer, trade named MagHammer. MagHammer's patented
design provides a easy-to-install and easy-to-use solution for
the previously difficult problems of material handling for
solids, powders and bulk dry materials. Operating on
electromagnetic principals, MagHammer delivers powerful
impact performance for complete and steady flow from bins,
hoppers, cyclones and transfer line.
Unlike other systems, MagHammer does not use air to impulse
the product or introduce any foreign substance to the operation.
This common sense solution is not only easier to install but
also more reliable and has better controls than previous
systems. MagHammer is not limited in its application. It
even handles the toughest applications such as superfine
flours or heavy sludge with ease.
Installation is simple, all that is needed is either 240 AC
single phase or 3-phase power. The user has complete control
of MagHammer's force, hits per cycle and cycle pause time.
The simple electronic controller allows complete flexibility.
It even can be activated using a remote signal from a PLC
or low-voltage relay.
MagHammer insures complete flow of product through bins,
hopper, and piping. It also saves time, money and improves
the safety of the operation.
Because of its all electrical operation, MagHammer costs
less to install and requires no routine service unlike
complex pneumatic systems. Its simple to use electronic
controls are also more precise, improving product mix
capability. Because MagHammer discharges your bin completely,
batch to batch repeatability are very high ensuring
consistency in product.
Safety is a big factor in today's workplace. Bins and hoppers
are often located in difficult to reach places. With
MagHammer there is no need for anyone to climb up tower
or ladders to manually beat on the bin. This reduces the
potential for injury and more importantly saves your bin
from unnecessary abuse and damage creating more dents or
pocket for material to catch-on.
MagHammer's variable impact control allows it to be
programmed to fit the weight and density of the material.
This opens a very broad application list. A partial list
includes:
Chemical - Dry powders, fertilizer, detergents, bulk plastic
Pharmaceutical - Dry powders, tablets, capsules,
Ceramics & Casting - Powders, cement, lime, rock, sand
Mining & Metal working - Ore, slag, powders, coke, ferrite's, alumina's
Food & Grain - Bulk grains, seeds, beans, spices, salt, pellets, feed
Construction - Sand, concrete, sludge, rock, gravel

ICAC Announces FORUM 2000: Cutting NOx Emissions
------------------------------------------------------------
Washington, D.C. - The Institute of Clean Air Companies, Inc.
(ICAC) announces Forum 2000, a technical conference that offers
thirty-three technical papers, most co-authored by technology
users, on the range of available options for reducing NOx
emissions from utility and industrial sources. These papers
will present current, hard operating data for installations
using computer optimization, combustion controls, SCR, SNCR,
and emerging control technologies to cut NOx emissions.
Martin Mearhoff, American Electric Power, will keynote the
conference, speaking on Reactions to the Uncertain World of
NOx Regulation in an Era of Deregulation. There will also
be an exhibit.
The program and registration material is available on ICACs
web site, http://www.icac.com There is a substantial
discount
of the registration fee for government employees.
We are fortunate that Forum 2000 has attracted many of the
Nations leading experts on the range of NOx control options
available for industrial and utility sources. The papers will
present operating data, including data from several large
installations that will have just started-up. We expect this
data to be helpful to all of us who are looking for the most
cost-effective ways to achieve compliance with NOx reduction
mandates, stated Jeff Smith, the Institutes Executive Director.
ICAC is the nonprofit association of companies that supply
air pollution control technology and monitoring systems. Its
mission is, in part, to work to assure clean air policy that
promotes public health, environmental benefit, and industrial
progress.

Mr. Hagaman needs help with super sack unloading:
We presently unload super sacks (650 kg) manually with a
chain hoist and small hopper feeding into a 8" nozzle on
top of a reactor. Top of nozzle is 15" above the floor.
There is a safety concern with operators being around and
under the super sack while it unloads. Is there a cradle
or other device out there that helps in this situation?
Thanks,
